About The Book

Ravi Abhiramnew’s job is simple: hunt down and neutralize supernatural threats. That is until he meets Cayenne, a charismatic time traveler who claims to know everything about him—even his most closely guarded secrets.

Going to dinner with Cayenne is probably a bad idea, and a romantic island getaway definitely is.

When a monster picks their resort as its hunting ground, Ravi’s combat skills and Cayenne’s time magic should make it a breeze to kill the monster and get their vacation back on track. But it turns out the real danger lurks much, much closer…

The Review

Ravi Abhiramnew is an agent for The Trust, and he hunts monsters along with his team. After he receives a call from Cayenne, a time traveler informing him of a monster who killed hundreds of people a year earlier, he gets the all clear to take care of the problem.

Cayenne, who goes by they/them, sends them back in time to where the monster is. Ravi and his team have a tough time killing it, but after a few tries they are finally successful, and they return to Cayenne.

Cayenne asks Ravi to go out to dinner with them, and although Ravi is initially hesitant, he finally agrees. At dinner, Ravi realizes that Cayenne knows everything about him while he knows almost nothing about them. Cayenne makes their attraction very clear, and when they invite Ravi to take a vacation with them to the Seychelles, Ravi agrees. Time away from monsters and the Trust is a welcome prospect.

They stay in two separate cabins, and Cayenne promises to behave themself, while Ravi is not so sure. Then people around him wake up after blacking out, while denying they were drinking. Then a man approaches Cayenne and Ravi, revealing the appearance of something sinister in the water.

When Ravi also sees the creature, he accepts the fact that his vacation will not be monster free. Meanwhile, Cayenne keeps using their time travel abilities to change anything that’s not the way they want it, like an argument with Ravi.

Cayenne keeps trying to get Ravi out of his shell and to loosen him up, hoping to get him into their bed. Cayenne knows what the future holds, and uses their ability to ensure that Ravi has a wonderful vacation. There are limitless things Cayenne can do by changing time, and they are ready, willing and able to do whatever is needed.

An interesting book filled with monsters, time travel, secrets and surprises. There’s more coming and fortunately the next two books in the series are already available, so I won’t have to wait to get answers!

Four stars.
