As you read this, I’m already in New Orleans, enjoying the sights of Mardi Gras. Here’s an older article I wrote about why I love the Big Easy!
Greetings readers.
Although I’m in my early 40’s, it’s so easy to revert back to being a kid when it comes to the Big Easy. And most do, especially during Mardi Gras.
In February or March, many tourists flock to N’awlins to take in parades, the bars to listen to love music, and drink until their hearts content or right before they puke.
*laughs*
It’s equivalent to Rio’s Carnivale but in my estimation, a lot more tame. Restaurants, hotels, and any tourist attractions thrive around this time because adults make the Gras their playground. And why wouldn’t they? The atmosphere surrounding the city is infectious!
However, there’s more to that. The lovely architecture of Saint Louis Cathedral, the cemeteries, the Garden District, and the famous Café Du Monde, are just a few things to enjoy in New Orleans.
For me, it’s a hotbed of inspiration that I love coming back to. In fact, a few of my books are set in New Orleans. The N’awlins Exotica series, N’awlins Exotica Paranormal, which features my favorite vampires, Ryland and Ryder Durand, as well as Anasa’s Awakening.
Although I’ve been there many times, it’s my favorite destination. I love talking about the city, the wonderful culture, as well as the scenery.
I haven’t been too many places, but New Orleans definitely tops my list. Someday, I hope to make it permanent home or at least a vacation spot to revisit every year.
