Zale is the second book in The Brotherhood of Ormarr series. While each book focuses on a different couple, the overall story arc continues in the next installment. For maximum enjoyment, we suggest reading in order. Zale is a m/m romance, and is recommended for adults 18 years and older.
The Review
After their parents death, Zale Ormarr along with his brothers: Malachite and Eeli have always been cared for by their older brother, Azaran. Zale has always found his freedom in the ocean. But with the loss of his mother his heart still aches. The brothers belong to the Brotherhood of Ormarr, where they have sworn to help and protect others. They’ve found themselves in danger on missions, when they’ve been attacked by wraiths and their riders from the Order of Amsel.
Davis Reid believes he has seen the death and destruction caused by Zale on a mission. He has come for justice. He is determined to bring Zale before the clans of Reid Island, that have been subject to the wraiths evilness. Davis and the clans have decided that the Brotherhood of Ormarr are corrupt and evil. Davis also has a personal stake in seeking justice, Harri.
When Zale and Davis come face to face, Davis is taken by surprise. He’s met more than his match with Zale. No matter what Zale faces with Davis, he has to keep under control in order to put his plan into action. The fight is on between them. With their effort to out-fight and out-smart each other, will they miss out on finding their “monaha senka”.
This is another first time read for me by Michelle Frost, who created the second installment to “The Brotherhood of Ormarr”. The writing has an easy flow and kept me wanting more of the exciting journey of Zale and Davis.
There’s lot’s of intricately described, fast paced, fight scenes and danger. Along with sweet moments and humor there’s still an element of mystery.
The emotional side of both Zale and Davis comes through when it comes to family and their dragons. Frost has a talent to separate the human aspect from the magic of the Dragons. I like that Frost didn’t back track to the first book “Azaran” to give detail on Zale and his brothers, which made the focus stay on Zale and Davis’ story. She allowed Davis to give his own POV on the brothers and Toby.
As for the Dragons; Itsaso, Sidri, Bodhi and Kesia they steal the show. From their wyrmling form to full grown they really become a main focus in the series. They each have a different personality, quirks, and how they relate to each brother and their magical talents really come to the forefront.
“Azaran” is the first book in the series and I have to say the cover art on both these books is absolutely stunning and certainly tells the story.
This is a wondrous addition to this series. More excitement is to come as “Eeli” is featured next in “The Ormarr Brother” series.

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay!
From a young age Ialways liked to read. I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors. My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!
As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb peaks my interest I will read the book. My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading. I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews.
One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.
But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
