About The Book

Luck has never been on Lamark’s side.

After his father’s untimely death, the new captain casts Lamark off the ship, leaving him in a dinghy in the middle of the ocean. Lamark is sure his life is over.

In a stroke of luck, Lamark encounters a merman, who saves him from drowning and brings him to a deserted island. Lamark quickly learns that on this mysterious island, not everything is as it seems, and danger lurks in every nook. This island may very well be the death of him.

Adventure, romance, and maybe some swashbuckling await Lamark, so long as he’s not too lily-livered to venture into the deep…

Into the Deep is a 45k pirate fantasy adventure novel with a heavy helping of slapstick comedy and a sweet, steamy m/m romance.

The Review

When Lamark’s father, the captain of a pirate ship died Lamark was ready to assume the captain’s position but the crew and the first mate had other ideas. Lamark was set adrift in a rowboat with no food, no oars and no water. He was convinced he would end up shark food since he did not know how to swim and his chances did not look good for survival.

When he saw a merman stuck in a net Lamark went about cutting him out only he lost his knife and fell in. It was the merman who saved his life and took him to a small island. Although they couldn’t communicate well with each other Lemark began to speak to him first asking him his name. Yuviceta (Yuvie) was a little too much for Lemark and so he shortened it to Yuvie. When Yuvie produced fish for them to eat Lemark set out to start a fire. It was after more splinters than he could count and one frustrating try after another that he was successful.

Lemark and Yuvie become close and Yuvie becomes everything to Lemark but there was still the problem of food. Coconuts seemed like a good idea until they kept falling on his head, bananas were a blessing until he fell down a cliff with them making them into banana mush. As hard as he tried Lemark couldn’t stop being clumsy, falling constantly and it was the one thing that the crew hated about him, even attempting to mop the deck would lead to him being flat on his back.

This was such a wonderful story with pirates, buried treasure, deserted island, explicit sex, surprises and a merman. It was filled with romance and danger and one laugh after another as Lemark tried to survive the elements and find food and water. This was not a long book but it was a very good book and worth reading.

5 Stars.
