About The Book
What would you do if your adopted son shifted into a wolf cub before your eyes?
For single dad Steven the choice was simple – find the boy’s family and hope they had the answers.
As the alpha of Lone Wolves Ranch, Mack trusted in humans as much as he trusted in love. Not at all. But he had a soft spot for the brave human searching for his son’s relatives. When he discovers Steven is his fated mate, he’s stuck between a soft spot and a hard place.
The Cub Club is a gay wolf shifter romance containing Mpreg and knotting. A complete 65,000-word novel – no cliffhanger!
The Review
I just spent some time this week pondering how some authors tend to write Mpreg in such a way that if it weren’t labeled as such, it could be categorized as any other MF Romance. So, imagine my surprise when this author not only allows their MC, Stevn, to hold on to his masculinity, but also gives him a backbone.
I loved how special Stephen is and how each time he is underestimated as just a human or just a recessive, or just an omega, the Wolf Gods/ Fate, show him as so much more. The pack Alpha, Mack, on the other hand needs to be taken to the woodshed for an old-fashioned whoopin’ for all the lies he tells Stephen, the pack, and even himself.
While Mack believes he is protecting everyone, by not telling the truth, expressing half truths, or omitting pertinent information makes for more drama, subterfuge, and peril than is necessary. While I understand an Alpha wanting to protect, Mack quickly learned Stephen was not just anyone to be trifled with and he had come to Mack for help regarding his adopted son. If Mack wouldn’t help, he would find someone who would. Unfortunately that someone could cost him his life, his son, and Mack his fated mate.
I enjoyed the first book very much and from what I have found online this was Kelly’s first (debut) published work. It was well written with engaging characters, good world building, and plot.
If you would like to give an Mpreg Shifter Romance a shot that is different than the “norm,” definitely give The Cub Club a try. As for me, I am heading on to book #2. There is still so much to learn about this special pack, and I am looking forward to reading what the Wolf Gods have in store for those of, The Lone Wolves Ranch.
The Reviewer
I am like totally psyched to be a part of the PRG Family! (said in my best “Valley Girl” teen voice from 1984) I may be fairly new to the world of e-books, and audiobooks, but I am an old school girl so my print library reflects that. My sons call my reading room “The Dragon Lair,” with all the floor to ceiling bookshelves packed with everything from shifter romance novels to books on the Witches’ Goddess Hecate.
I love reading and read my first novel, “The Ring,” by Danielle Steel when I was in the 5th grade. While there were some things I didn’t “get” I completely understood the story as a whole and remember crying at certain times. While my friends read “Little House in the Big Woods,” I fell in love with ROMANCE! Decades later I am older, hopefully wiser, and still in love with romance. These days however my heart is captured by MM Romance, so that’s what I currently love to read and review….
