About The Book

Daymon is the second prince of a kingdom in which Evokers—those who possess intuitive magical abilities—have long since been treated with fear and mistrust.

Marked as an Evoker himself, Daymon is captured by those who wish to take advantage of these powers.

Now, the prince must put his faith in Rhyder, the captain of his guards—and the man Daymon has claimed as his own—to free him.

The Review

This was an interesting read. Not exactly a love story, but still a good one.

The story is told from Daymon’s POV, and we learn that he has had a troubled and scary childhood because of his inherited magical ability. Most of the first part of this read was Daymon’s internal dialog, which at times I felt was a little overboard, but the situation he is in leaves little choice. It is through his thoughts and memories that we get most of the love story between the MCs, and that is why I don’t call it a true love story.

The prejudice and hatred that Evokers are subjected to can be likened to any of our current issues, so I found it relevant and thought provoking.  The beatings this poor character took were really sad and kind of gruesome.

We only got to know Rhyder through Daymon’s thoughts, but he appears to be a true knight in shining armor.  The type of hero that we all wished we had in our lives.

Overall I enjoyed this read, my only complaint is that I felt like I stepped into the middle of a story rather than an entire story.

Solid 4 stars!
