About The Book

How far is too far to go to save someone you love?

Brandon Lynch is magical. He’s a scintilla, wielder of electricity and is in love with a werewolf—or maybe he’d just in love with the idea of loving a werewolf?

Raul Fierro is a bounty hunter, professional Dom and a werewolf. He knows he loves Brandon. He’s made a promise to always protect Brandon and will carry out that promise at all costs.

When Brandon and Raul go head to head with human traffickers, Brandon’s morals are stretched to their limits. Will Raul keeping his promise tear them apart?

The Review

Brandon Lynch is cute, shy, and needs to learn the words to “Born to be Wild”!  Because he has a unique power, he works for his father’s business Seafind.  But Brandon doesn’t feel loved or cared for by his family.

Raul Fierro is a bounty hunter/werewolf, who also works in his families business, El Corazon.  Raul is a gruff, strong werewolf but he can also be thoughtful and caring.  Opposite of Brandon, Raul comes from a very loving family.  Raul’s only downfall is a certain centaur!

On Brandon’s excursion to El Corazon, a friendship develops between him and Raul.  But with Raul’s profession in the family business, he feels it can’t be anything more.  Even after Brandon goes home they remain in contact and then Brandon calls a halt to contacting Raul.   Raul tries to accept Brandon’s decision to not contacting him anymore but his feelings are hurt.  Then Raul along with his friends find themselves in a dangerous situation.

Elizabeth Noble creates a unique story with “Scintilla” and presents an entertaining start to the new series “El Corazon”.   There’s sweet and humorous moments between Brandon, Raul and various secondary characters.  But the plot is not without danger, suspense, load’s of action with some gory scenes where werewolves are concerned.  There’s also the element of surprise that comes with Brandon finding out the truth about family.

Noble does an extraordinary job in character building.  Natalia Antonia Pilar Varela Fierro is Raul’s Grandmother, she’s very sweet but packs a punch in her own way.  Tadeo Ochoa is Raul’s cousin and best friend;  Fahim Boulos is an effrit jinni;  Sally O’Shea is a leprechaun;  and Gisele Sandoval is a lawyer.  There’s quite an assortment of magical and likable characters along with some evil ones too.

“El Corazon” held my interest and was an enjoyable read.  This has great potential for a continuing series and I can’t wait to see what Elizabeth Noble creates with the next installment.

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California.  Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018.  My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen.  New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.

I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.

My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012.  She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series.  Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!

As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.

My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing.  I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.

I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews.  One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group.  Joining her site was such an eye opener.  I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.

But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
