About The Book
Night Shift is the city’s thin, silver line- and some nights it’s thinner than others. It isn’t the fact he almost died last night that’s thrown Night Shift officer Kit Marlow. He’s used to that. It’s the fact that instead of a werewolf trying to rip his throat out, it was his friend and colleague who tried to put him in the ground.
Well, ‘friend.’
Now Marlow’s been framed for a murder he didn’t commit by a man who’s committed more than his fair share. Half the cops in San Diego want to see Marlow behind bars for what he’s supposedly done, and the other half want him dead before he can tell his side of the story. The problem is that he can’t tell them apart.
There’s only one person in town that Marlow can trust, even though he knows he shouldn’t drag Cade Deacon into his problems. The sharp-tongued CEO of a private security firm might have gotten close to Marlow over the last few weeks, but taking on the SDPD is a lot to ask.
Marlow doesn’t have much choice, though. If he can’t clear his name before the last full moon of the month sets, he might not see another one. That’d be a shame since Marlow would really like to spend the night with Cade without needing protective gear.
The Review
Kit Marlow has gone on the run for a murder he didn’t commit. He has two choices: turn himself in, not knowing who he can trust, or seek out Cade’s help. He knows turning himself in could very well lead to his demise, and so the best choice seems to be Cade.
After the night of the full moon, Cade Deacon has made his way to his office. Lem shows up and has a news video for Cade to watch. Cade knows he needs to protect Marlow. He makes one demand of Lem – to find Marlow, no matter what. But Lem has a point. Does Cade want to risk everything for a guy he hardly knows?
There are also decisions that need to be made. Marlow is very dedicated to being Night Shift and he has to weigh his options. What is he willing to give up for the man he’s made a special connection with?
And is anyone willing to help Cade and Marlow, as they start to dig deeper into the killing and who is really in control, Piper or Franklin?
“Shiftless” is the final book from TA Moore for the “Night Shift” series. As always, it offers fast paced action, and a very complex investigation.
Cade and Marlowe also work on their long awaited connection, and Cade’s vulnerable side comes through even more in this last installment.
Lem is quite the character too – he has his serious moments, but he also brings lots of banter and fun to the story.
I highly recommend reading: “Shift Work” and “Split Shift” before “Shiftless” as the first two novels are cliff hangers and pick up right where the previous one leaves off.
I hate that this had to end, and I wish there was more to come for this action packed, quirky, paranormal, fun trilogy. But I know TA Moore will soon bring something new and exciting to us!

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.
I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.
My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!
As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.
My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.
I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.
But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
