About The Book
Life as we know it will never be the same.
Flying saucers are spotted all over the world. But after one crashes into the San Francisco Bay, they disappear. Not far from the crash, Mitch rents his spare room to Claytone and quickly develops a crush. But what he doesn’t know is that Claytone will soon turn his world— and heart, upside down.
Claytone’s final revelation will reach even further; it will change life on planet Earth— forever.
The Review
I’m not a regular reader of Science Fiction, and I admit, the beginning of the book kind of dampened my enthusiasm to read the story. But then I found out more about Mitch, and I kind of ‘fell for him.’ And I’m not talking about romantically but as a character.
With the news of spaceship sightings and one spaceship crashing into the San Francisco Bay, Mitch had quite a lot to digest, with his new roommate Claytone a bit ‘odd’ but not unattractive.
Of course, Mitch’s curiosity got the better of him, and with a small excuse, he enters his house guest’s bedroom, only to find out more about Claytone than he ever wanted to know.
Still, the attraction Mitch feels towards Claytone turns into a strong bond of trust, confidence, and friendship. The appeal is still there, but the knowledge about the truth and the facts welds them together.
The two have to separate before their attraction and love blooms, but the help and change Claytone grants to Mitch clearly shows how deep they already feel for each other.
At this point, I will not reveal anything more about the story. 99 Days is a mere 82 pages long, which makes it a pretty quick read. Telling too much in a review wouldn’t do the story any good.
Despite the limited length of the book, I enjoyed the read. The story is written in the present tense, which makes it even more thrilling. I like Claytone more and more, even though he comes across as a bit odd. My favorite character, however, is Mitch.
I likemost of the message the author conveys at the end of the book. However, I don’t particularly agree with mentioning a Hybrid Race. To me, that part seems too close to the ideas of a through and through evil and horrible creature ‘ruling’ in Europe between 1933 and 1945… That is, in fact, the one part that costs the book one star.
However, I like that the end of the book leaves a possible re-connection between Claytone and Mitch open.
