About The Book
Sequel to The Dead Don’t Lie
Three months have passed, and Ian and Adam are both struggling with the memory of that fateful night. Consumed with guilt, Ian carries on with his day-to-day existence with little success, while Adam adjusts to his new life as a cold-blooded killer.
But both men face a new challenge when Adam’s latest target, a crime boss’s beautiful daughter, enters the picture. It’s a dangerous assignment that forces hidden jealousies and not so buried desires to the surface.
Yet as Adam and Ian’s desperate situation escalates, they find their chaotic world dealt another heartbreaking blow when tragedy strikes a member of their group. The devastating event compels Ian and Adam to confront their feelings for one other. Yet with sinister forces at work against them as well as the dark story of their families’ joined and tangled past, will Ian and Adam fight to build something real together? Or will they find themselves torn apart once more?
NOTE: This story contains scenes depicting a suicide attempt and/or suicidal ideation as well as substance abuse/recreational drug use. This is book 2 in a series and ends on a cliffhanger.
The Review
The Dead Don’t Mourn is the sequel to The Dead Don’t Lie in the “Dead Generations” series by Anne Russo. I highly suggest reading “The Dead Don’t Lie” before this novel.
Ian Abbott and Adam Morrow are back and the thin line between love and hate is slowly unravelling, but is it for better or worse?
Is Adam going against what he believes, or is he becoming a cold-blooded assassin like Ian? He can’t see a way to fight through the chaos. No matter what happens between him and Ian or their physical attraction, he will never forgive Ian for what he did.
The one thing that keeps Adam sane is his expertise as a doctor and his warmth and caring comes through with the tragic and heartbreaking end to one of the group. He also has to hear confessions of the members for what happened that horrible night. But Adam has his breaking point, and walks a the thin line that leads to self-destruction.
As for Ian, he’s still seeking forgiveness from Adam, but it’s not forthcoming. He’s still under Katherine’s control, and no matter how strong he tries to be, she always finds a way to manipulate him. He continues to loose confidence in himself, and her words leave doubts in his mind. But one fateful night, Adam seeks him out. Ian has a plan to put an end to all the chaos.
What is this hold that Katherine has over Ian? Who is she taking orders from? She had a hold over Rhys and Liam too, and it led to the destruction of Ian’s and Adam’s young lives.
Adam still want’s to know the truth about who his father is too. What will the fallout be, and who will reveal the secret?
Anne Russo continues with this dark-themed, psychological, gruesome storyline for her second novel in the “Dead Generations” series. It contains shocking violence, manipulation, betrayal, deceit, danger. secrets and powerful raw emotions. Once again Russo keeps readers on edge with Ian and Adam, and just when we think maybe there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, things get all twisted and chaotic.
Russo also fills the reader in with in-depth, intermittent sequences about Rhys and Liam.
Yes, this may end with another “edge of your seat” cliffhanger – I’m ready to see what explodes from it next! I can’t wait for book three, and I’m expecting Anne Russo to deliver lots more of grit, gore and loads of shock value!!

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.
I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.
My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!
As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.
My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.
I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.
But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
