About The Book
Lornyc is good at keeping secrets, because secrets can get you kicked out of College.
Lornyc considers the undergraduate course, and most of the people on it, beneath him. He just needs to get through this year and then he can start his doctorate. Methian might be attractive enough, but he’s an annoying, fat-headed, sloth toad, and Lornyc doesn’t want him as a lab partner. In fact, Lornyc doesn’t want anything to do with him.
Prequel to the Reagalos novels: enemies to lovers, new adult, gay romance fantasy. A stand-alone novel in the Reagalos universe that charts how Lornyc and Methian got together, despite their best efforts not to.
Prequel to the Reagalos Series.
The Review
College Days is the prequel to the “Reagalos” series by Rebecca Cohen. Through the four book series, “Servitude”, “Idolatry”, “Avarice” and “Restitution”, readers get little flash backs at what college was like for Lornyc Reagalos and Methian Hadral – their first time meeting and their “College Days”.
Lornyc Reagalos already has a fight on his hands just getting into college, no matter that Tancorix, High Lord of Katraman, is his father. At seventeen, Lornyc is more than qualified for the post-graduate program, but Dean Askell objects, making all kinds of excuses. Lornyc is given no choice but to study an appropriate undergraduate degree and experience what college life is really like. He agrees to the terms – his goal is to enter the research program, and he has a secret plan of his own.
Methian Hadral was popular and has the reputation of spoiled, rich, playboy. The only thing he really applies himself to us the Infidels rowing team. As far as his college courses go, he just does the basics. He’s the heir of Xenetra, so he doesn’t feel the need to work hard. Methian also has many extracurricular activities, and they have nothing to do with education.
At the Para-dimensional science lecture, Lornyc and Methian first notice each other, but it’s not an attraction – more of a distraction. Eventually it turns into a disaster, as Lornyc and Methian are paired up as lab partners by Professor Yanga.
And college life definitely gets chaotic!
Cohen stays true to form with College Days – it fits right into the flow of the previous “Reagalos” novels. Once again there are secrets, jealousy, parents who just don’t understand, heartbreak, romance and humor. And we also get a window into some of the history behind the continuing battle between the Reagalos and Hadral families.
There is a host of characters from the series here, including Lornyc’s parents, and siblings Vella, Talis and Anthon. He makes new friends in Gannis Mildre and Tris. Methian’s parent are featured too, as are Bartemus and Urla and members of the rowing team.
I was thoroughly entertained with the entire “Reagalos” series, and College Days was just as entertaining and fun to read. I’m glad that she decided to write the prequel – it’s a fantastic addition.
Be sure to read the Foreword!

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.
I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.
My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!
As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.
My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.
I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.
But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
