About The Book
A gunshot. A bloody note. And a relationship that might not survive…
Now that the war with the Korean syndicate is behind him, all Nao Murata wants is a vacation and a chance to nurture his new relationship with Aki Hisona. They can punish those who abandoned the family later.
After six weeks trapped in a hospital bed, a quiet vacation is the last thing Aki wants. Ready to prove himself to Nao and the rest of the family, Aki’s desperate for some action. And not just the Yakuza kind…
When Aki hears a gunshot, he knows the dust has far from settled. Nao says it can wait, but Aki’s unable to understand why they can’t tie up those loose ends.
Between Aki’s constant pushing and Nao’s uncompromising focus on what he thinks is best for them both, are they too stubborn for their fragile relationship to last?

The Review
Wrapped In Screams is book six in “The Yakuza Path” series by Amy Tasukada. This novel picks up after the explosive book five Flowers of Flesh and Blood and the war with the Korean Syndicate.
Nao Murata needs a vacation, not so much for himself but for Aki Hisona, who he almost lost forever.
Aki is recovering from mortal wounds from the battle with the Koreans. But Aki wants so much more for him and Nao. Aki wants to prove that he’s able to continue being Nao’s assistant. As Aki recovers, he still can’t resist the passionate feelings between him and Nao, but Nao knows Aki’s condition is still fragile.
There is plenty to keep Nao and Aki busy here. Nao wants Aki to be involved in decisions on the renovation of the old house where they are residing, while Aki has some surprising plans of his own.
But for Nao, there’s also serious business that needs to be handled. Someone betrayed Nao during the battle with the Koreans, and retribution is to come.
Tasukada doesn’t miss a beat, even with this quick read about Nao and Aki after the battle. There’s still the violence that has always been a major part of “The Yakuza Path” series, but it’s very toned down. Wrapped In Screams is really focused on Nao and Aki’s differences in personalities, lifestyles, their ability to compromise, and their compassionate and growing relationship.
“The Yakuza Path” is another one of my top favorite series, and it will always be worth reading again! It’s always a pleasure to read the stories and enjoy the characters that Amy Tasukada brings to life. I hope there will be more to come!

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.
I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.
My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!
As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.
My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.
I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.
But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
