About The Book
For David Jordan life is close to perfect.
His band, Embrace the Fear, is living the rock ‘n roll dream as an up-and-coming group under Masterson Management. They aren’t rolling in dough like their mentors from Social and Maiden, but things are good.
David grew up in a middle-class family. Both his parents worked and supported him and his sisters in every way. To this day, they are still in love with each other.
The one thing missing from David’s life is the same kind of connection his parents had.
But David’s desires are a bit unorthodox and not always welcome with guys his age. Would an older man look past the number and trust David to care for them—body and soul?
Jordan Wright has a thriving business thanks to being awarded the contract to manage the catering for Rocktoberfest for a second year.
He’s thrilled to be back at the venue again—maybe this is the year something special will happen, although he’s not counting on it.
Since Jordan’s last failed attempt at a relationship, he’s sworn only to engage in meaningless hook-ups.
Will he ever be able to open his mind and his heart again? Enough to trust another man, not only with his body but to catch him when he falls?
David’s Disaster is part of the multi-author The Road to Rocktoberfest 2022 series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but why not read them all and see who hits the stage next? The Review
David’s Disaster book is part of the multi-author Road to Rocktoberfest 2022 series, and it takes us into the world of rock ‘and’n roll and what performing and setting up venues is all about.
Rocktoberfest is on the horizon once again, and David Jordan and his bandmates are performing for their second year. David’s band achieved success faster than they expected, and everyone in the band is close friends. Chase, the lead singer is engaged to Ely, who travels with the band and prepares their meals.
Ely is a business partner with Jordan Wright, who owns a diner, and is the head chef and manager for a catering business.
Jordan Wright has had a very difficult and sad life, with a drug-addicted mother who died when he was young, and then living on the streets rather than going into the foster care system. His life took a turn for the better when he got a job working as a busboy at the diner he now owns, eventually becoming a sous-chef. Lyle, the previous owner, took Jordan in like a son, helping him achieve his GED, and when he died leaving everything to the once-homeless young boy.
Now Jordan has two businesses, a home, and a car, and is determined to pay it forward by helping those like him, and working closely with the LGBT youth shelter.
As if Jordan’s life wasn’t hard enough, his ex-boyfriend used him as a whipping boy, and their BDSM scenes were done without benefit of a safe word, which left Jordan with broken bones until he finally escaped. He can’t get rid of the memories or nightmares, and is afraid of being involved with anyone, for fear of being hurt again. Now he only has sex with David Jordan, sex without feeling, just a means of satisfying physical needs, usually in bathrooms or in any room available.
David enjoys sex, and Jordan is now his go-to guy. Even though he refuses to accept that Jordan means anything to him, he thinks about him constantly. Jordan doesn’t want any involvement, but he’s obsessed with David. Still, Tony is always in his head.
One night, David sees Jordan dancing with two strangers at a club and he goes all caveman. He drags Jordan to his home and his dominance takes over. He doesn’t hurt Jordan, but it scares Jordan and he runs away.
David discovers that he likes being a dominant, and wants to learn more about the lifestyle. As he realizes what he needs, he also realizes that wants it with Jordan, but whenever he gets close, Jordan disappears.
Since Ely is Jordan’s best friend and business partner it is impossible for Jordan and David not to run into each other, though, especially when they will both be at Rocktoberfest.
Secrets, sex, and rock ‘and ‘n roll were all hilights of this book, although it has its dark moments too – a visit to a BDSM club, past sexual abuse and attempted sexual assault.
But there were many bright spots too. I won’t reveal what happens between these two damaged men, but they certainly deserve a HEA. Four stars.
