About The Book

The advantage of a one-night stand is being able to walk away. Except, Nathan can’t.

Workaholic Nathan Nicholls hasn’t had the easiest time of late. Still reeling from his publisher’s rejection of his latest book, he seeks refuge in a remote hotel. When he’s propositioned by the sinfully sexy CJ, a man who knows exactly what he wants and isn’t afraid to go for it, why shouldn’t Nathan throw caution to the winds for once and have a bit of fun? After all, he’s leaving the next day.

When an avalanche puts paid to Nathan’s quick exit, he finds himself stuck there for Christmas. Stuck with CJ. What should be awkward, quickly becomes something else. The snow might be cold, but the time they spend together is far from it, and Nathan finds his heart warming. If only their passion and laughter didn’t have a shelf life, doomed to come to an end once the road is cleared.

Nathan Nicholls doesn’t do one-night-stands. But maybe, just maybe, if he makes a Christmas wish, this could be something more.

A sweet and steamy 43k forced proximity story which features a man who never was any good at one-night stands, a cheerful wildlife photographer who might not be as confident as he makes out, rustic log cabins, snow, Christmas cheer, and two men gaining a whole new perspective on life.

All the books in the Snowed Inn collection are standalone stories and can be read in any order.

The Review

This book is part of the ‘Snowed Inn’ series – each book is by a different author and can be read as a stand-alone. This was my first in the series, a wonderful Christmas romance.

Nathan Nicholls is an author who is working on the fourth book of a series. A call to his publisher sends him into a tailspin when he’s told that his book will not be published because it would require extensive revisions.

Heartbroken, he decides to go to a retreat in Colorado, taking a few days there before heading to see his father. Nathan is from the UK, and he intends to see his dad to try to get over his disappointment about the book.

He rents a cabin and stays in “solitary confinement,” not mingling with anyone, and even manages to find a bar at the hotel that’s usually not full. On his way to the bar, he stops to see a speed dating event, and finds himself staring at a handsome man. As usual, though, he walks away and heads to the bar to order a beer and find a table where he can sit by himself.

When the object of his attention sits down next to him, he’s unsure what to do. Fortunately, his unexpected visitor knows what he wants, and is not afraid to ask for it.

Callum Jones – his friends call him CJ – notices when Nathan looks at him with bedroom eyes, and comes right out with an invitation to have some “fun” together. Nathan hasn’t been with anyone for a long time and is hesitant, but he’s drawn to CJ. Besides, what harm would it cause to enjoy the company of a handsome man for the night? He’d be leaving in the morning anyway. He wasn’t a fan of the one-night stand, but it had been so long that he couldn’t resist.

The next day, Nathan leaves CJ’s cabin, only to discover upon checkout that an avalanche has covered the roads and knocked out the electricity. Leaving the retreat is impossible, and there’s no way of knowing when everything will be back to normal.

CJ runs into him at reception, and gets the same news. But unlike Nathan, he’s ready to continue the one-night stand for as many nights as they end up having together.

CJ is a wildlife photographer, and hoped to take photos of animals in the snow, but the animals are in hiding since the avalanche, so he finds other ways to spending his time and drags Nathan along.

As Nathan and CJ spent time together playing games, building snowmen, and having mind blowing sex, they both start to hope that the roads will stay closed a little longer, and fearing that they will go their separate ways once things are reopened.

This is a beautiful story with two wonderful characters, and thanks to Mother Nature, they get their chance for a well-deserved HEA. Four stars.
