About The Book
I Hear You follows the journey of Tyler, a devil-may-care, party boy mechanic who loves his job, his friends, and his faithful dog, but the thought of settling down is the last thing on his mind.
That all changes when he meets Gabe, an adorably dimpled, floppy haired deaf man who challenges him in ways he never imagined.
As Tyler starts to fall for Gabe, he realizes his carefree lifestyle may be holding him back from true happiness.
Will he be able to overcome his past and embrace love, or will his desire for freedom and the lure of the party scene prove too powerful?
This heartwarming and steamystory of love, self-discovery, and second chances includes scenes of hurt/comfort, found family, and the cutest doggone puppy love. It is a must-read for mm romance fans.
The Review
I am sorry I didn’t get to read the first two books in this series, but I did get to know Sam and Miguel and they were wonderful.
Sam is Tyler’s boss and best friend, and this is Tyler’s story. Tyler is a mechanic and works and parties hard. Other than Sam and Miguel and his border collie Dom, his life revolves around sex, sex and more sex, often with help from recreational drugs. A relationship is the last thing he wants. Then one day, a need for caffeine brings him to a coffee shop, where he sets his eyes on a cute man with dimples who will change his life.
Gabe sees Tyler and is immediately drawn to him. Gabe is deaf, and the next time he meets Tyler is at the park where Tyler and his dog hang out. Gabe has a shepherd named Audie, and she and Dom are like their very own dating service, because the two dogs love each other and are the perfect reason for their daddies to keep meeting at the park. Four legged kids are just as important to some people as the two legged ones, and these two dogs are amazing.
Gabe reads lips and signs. For Tyler, it’s something that takes getting used to, talking face to face when you are used to just talking, and realizing how he takes for granted the simple things, like the laughter of children at the park and hearing your dog bark and all the things those of us with hearing take for granted. Gabe was nineteen when he left Italy and his family to make a new life in America and his new life consists of friends and his own business, Pawsome Academy and Doggy Day Care.
Gabe and Tyler spend time together with their dogs and at the park, but Tyler still refuses to accept that he is dating, since he never even slept with the same man twice or even bothered knowing their names. Sam and Miguel try to encourage him to change, but he will be thirty years old soon, and seems set in his ways. The two men are so different – Tyler goes to orgies, and Gabe is much more innocent.
What I loved about this book – besides the two great dogs and the two amazing humans – was what I learned about the things the deaf have to deal with. I always thought that sign language was universal or that reading lips was easy. How wrong I was. And coming from Italy Gabe had to learn an entirely different form of sign language, because in Italy they use ISL instead of ASL. And lip reading from people speaking a different language is also another obstacle.
I absolutely adored Gabe, a wonderful character who always laughs and finds happiness, despite his deafness.
I highly recommend this book. Five stars.
