About The Book

Drew’s life sucks. Saving money to escape his homophobic family is one thing, but his only paying gig at the moment is playing his father’s “only gay in the village” plus-one to every LGBT friendly business event.

Then his brother comes up with a plan. Sheffield needs someone to go undercover for his police investigation. Drew has all the qualifications: he’s gay, he has experience with exotic animals, and he’s college-aged. And he’s easily bought.

Going undercover to solve the mystery of a college campus smuggling ring was never in his plans. Neither was hot, perfect, house captain Rylee. The inside jokes about cats, animal prints, and talk of a place called Vihaan that forbids same-sex relationships, are just the tip of the suspicious iceberg.

Little does Drew know that he’s about to expose more than an illegal smuggling operation. The truth could be more lethal than he could imagine. And, despite it all, it might be his own secret past that kills him before the truth can be unveiled.

The Review

Such an interesting book, dealing with shifters and the effects suffered by those in the LGBTQ+ community in another world where dating someone of the same sex is not welcome. The belief is if a child cannot be conceived, then there is no legitimate reason for sex. This is a shifter story, but it’s unlike any I have read before.

When Drew revealed to his family that he was gay, he was thrown out, a sad story, but one that happens every day. When his homophobic dad realized that he could use Drew to give himself good press, he was given a year’s tuition as a payoff.

Now, once again, Drew finds himself being used by his family – his brother Sheffield is a detective working on a case involving a fraternity suspected of dealing in exotic animals. Drew is the perfect age, attends the university and is gay. All the members of the fraternity are either gay, bi or transgender which is why it’s called the House of Acceptance. Two previous undercover detectives were caught and thrown out, but Drew is the perfect person to get the job done and give his brother the big win he is after.

When Drew knocks on the fraternity house door, he comes face to face with the captain of the house, Rylee, and sparks fly as soon as they see each other. Drew’s story is that his family threw him out, and he needs a place to stay for the night till he can find someplace else.

Drew is accepted and ends up sharing a room with Rylee, and those sparks between them could start a fire. He’s told he can stay for as long as he wants, and he jumps at the chance. All the fraternity members welcome him with open arms, and he finds himself loving the feeling of being wanted at the same time as he feels guilty about what he is really there for.

As he searches for evidence, his feelings for Rylee grow, even though Rylee seems to be doing everything in his power to stay away from him. Drew wants Rylee, and Rylee finds himself unable to resist Drew, but there’s a is a reason for Rylee’s reluctance. But resistance is futile, LOL. There is a lot of mention of someone or something named Vihaan, which Drew believes is a cult. All the members admit to having come from Vihaan and for the first half of the book, it’s a mystery.

Finally, the truth about Vihaan is revealed, as well as why Rylee was afraid of pursuing a relationship with Drew. Drew must figure out a way to reveal the truth about why he is at the fraternity, because he knows in his heart that there is no way in hell that he will betray the man he has fallen in love with, or the new friends he has made.

This was a fascinating story filled with amazing characters. There’s sex, violence, surprises and secrets.

This series must be read in order to truly understand the world the author has built. I am about to read book two – Keon’s story – someone who became close friends with Drew and who deserves a HEA of his own.

Four stars.
