The Review

When Director Perez and Mae his gunwhore show up at David’s apartment, Bells puts his plan into motion, confronting Mae and refusing to let her in. He stills struggles with bad memories with the Kami no Fressky mod. What he hears confirms for him that Perez has cameras planted in David’s apartment.

Hearing Perez abusing Bells, David struggles with his feelings. He doesn’t want anyone else to have Bells.

After Perez leaves, when Bells and David are intimate, he notices how quickly Bells’ bruises and welts heal. He starts to wonder just how much Bells is cyber enhanced and genetically modified.

David is still worried about his new position at NeuroTech. He has vital positions to fill – he needs to replace key personnel. His main concern is Director Perez, and the game that he is playing.

While Bells is off getting breakfast for them, Perez enters the his office. Bells promised that everything was taken care o,f but now he’s doubting Bells. Perez makes promises of wealth and power to David, as long as he can have him forever.

Perez has gotten stronger, and David wonders if he is Perez cyber enhanced? Before he can be abused again, Bells returns. The Beast inside Bells is enraged, and Bells realizes that his plan isn’t working.

No matter what Bells does, David is in danger. He knows that David can’t survive in the LC Free aone – the toxic air, pollution and dangerous environment would surely kill him.. And Magilli-Loran still wants him dead. And going against Perez and NeuroTech would mean certain death for them both.

Barnette has crafted an intense series with “Through Neon Eyes.” Power 2 is the seventh book in the series, and is especially nerve-racking and intense, with some very explicit scenes – please heed the author’s trigger warnings.

The suspense remains high as we discover more about Bells, who is reluctant to remember his own past. And there’s still the mystery of The Beast and the Dark Lady. And Perez and Mae are just pure evil.

Barnette is planning to wrap up the series soon. I can’t wait – I’m excited to see what is revealed about Bells and David.

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.

I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.

My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!

As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.

My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.

I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.

But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
