About The Book
Jenna solves real crimes; Rhiannon has prophesied one. Can Jenna thwart a murder that hasn’t happened yet? Book 9 in the popular Lessons in Murder series, by award-winning, best-selling author Edale Lane.
Blissful about her upcoming marriage to Jenna, Dr. Randi McLeod accepts her friend’s invitation to visit a spiritualist for a fun reading. Skeptical at first, Randi reconsiders when her practitioner Rhiannon becomes terrified, envisioning her own murder during their session.
Jenna Ferrari, Randi’s fiancée, is buried in multiple investigations while squeezing in wedding planning. Add helping her little sister, and the practical detective has no time for a quack psychic who foresees her own death.
But when a malicious perpetrator tries to kill Rhiannon for real, Jenna and her team roll into action. Can they catch the shadowy would-be killer before it’s too late, or is the clairvoyant destined to die?
Foreseen in Murder continues the adventures of lovebirds Jenna and Randi as they become entangled in a mystical case that requires all Jenna’s self-control plus more faith than she’s ready for. Serious family drama and delightful lesbian wedding planning combine with crime-solving for a well-rounded reading experience.
The Review
As always, Roanoke law enforcement seems to get busy just when there’s a holiday coming. In this outing, Lt. Det. Jenna Ferrari gets to spend some much-needed cuddle time with Dr. Randi MacLeod.
Except that instead, Jenna finds herself at a site of destruction, in a mobile trailer park, the result of cooked meth, filled with smoke and bits and pieces of the victims. Fire trucks and emergency medical teams are still on site, and her team of experts has arrived: Sgt. Det. Ron Owens, Det. Trisha Jamison and Spec. Off. Ethan Bauman, as well as CSIs Destiny Wilcox and Brian Davenport. They gather evidence and put their investigative skills together to figure out if this case is the result of an accident or an attack.
Jenna has to focus on both the trailer park case, and her upcoming wedding. She’s given some thought to who to invite in the wedding party, and what to do about her own family.
As the team is in the office discussing the case, she’s approached by Officer Matt Murphy, who asks her for advice. Murphy was called out on a domestic noise complaint, and was very concerned and suspicious about what he observed. She assures him that she wll look into it as soon as she receives his report.
In the meantime, Randi is out with her friend Jo, who’s taking her to Psychic Essence for a reading by Rhiannon Hayes. Randi and Jo are shocked when Rhiannon Hayes sees her own death. When Randi seeks out a sceptical Jenna, who agrees to help. Now, along with the trailer park case, a spousal abuse case, and Jenna’s sister Angie’s issues, how will Jenna and Randi be able to give their undivided attention to planning their wedding?
Lane deals with some very difficult topics in Foreseen in Murder, – deadly physical and verbal abuse, drug addiction, and hate that leads to bodily harm. Some readers may find these situations traumatic, but the story is really worth reading as the author covers help that’s available for battered women, and the psychological therapy needed in these circumstances.
This is an interesting and informative tale, filled with Irish Lore, fae heritage, Druids of Celtic Britain and Scotland, chakras, the mythology of the warrior race of Milesians and Tuatara De Dana, fairies, magic, curses and the power of crystals and gemstones, and how they relate to healing and predicting futures and events.
Jenna has Randi’s solid support. With every step they’ve taken, their relationship has grown and they live in the hope of a wonderful life together. And Byron and Bandit bring humor and love into their lives.
It’s always a joy to revisit the Roanoke law enforcement team and others who enlighten the story: Sgt. Det. Ron Owens, Det. Trisha Jamison, Spec. Off. Ethan Bauman and Officer Matt Murphy. CSI: Destiny Wilcox and Brian Davenport; Dr. Asita Gupta, Jose Marcus, fingerprint analyst; and psychologist, Dr. Grayson. Even ADA Bennett Altman, Trisha’s fiancé, gets a mention. Mario Sanchez, special friend of Ethan Bauman, makes an appearance and brings a surprise to Jenna’s team. There are also the two interesting women: psychic, Rhiannon Hayes and Clairvoyant Empath Clara Louise Blaylock.
I highly recommend Foreseen in Murder, book nine in the wonderful “Lessons in Murder” series that regularly deals with fascinating subjects. Another excellent addition.

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.
I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.
My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!
As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.
My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.
I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.
But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
