About The Book
Stanton
I wasn’t known for my impulse control. Raised as an only child and best friends with my mother, I hadn’t heard the word no often in my life. One night changed that completely. I met a stranger who worked for my family’s company. One kiss and the beautiful man was gone, and I hadn’t stopped until I found him. The real challenge came when he turned me down because of my age, but to me, that didn’t matter. He was my boy, and I’d prove it to him.
Beckett
After a divorce, I was just trying to learn to live single again. I’d emotionally broken down outside my boss’s home, and a gorgeous young man had kissed me. The shock of that had me running. I hadn’t expected to see him again, but he arrived at my office, and with such confidence, he’d claimed I was his. He couldn’t be serious. Yet the more time I spent with him, the attraction became all-consuming, and the reasons to say no were becoming unimportant. Could I open myself to the possibility or would it be safer to protect myself from another mistake?
The Review
Stanton Sanderson is a spoiled twenty-eight-year-old rich boy who loves being a Daddy. Stanton isn’t really that bad, but he wants what he wants. He’s had every opportunity to be part of Sanderson’s Investments, the family business. His mother Clora took over when his father passed away.
Stanton has his own business that he loves to hate – a top notch event planning company. It kept him on his toes all the time, and he often makes appearances at the events. But being a host leaves Stanton just wanting to go home and get out of the limelight. Being an only child, he and his mother Clora have a wonderful relationship. Yes, she admits to spoiling him, but she knows what she’s dealing with.
At one of the many of his mother’s traditional celebrations for employees, Stanton is in attendance but wants to sneak away. He escapes to the patio, a success until he hears sobbing, and discovers one of the most attractive men he has ever seen. Just when Stanton is ready to make his big move, the slamming of the patio door interrupts them, and the man makes his escape.
Beckett Asher, forty-five, works for Sanderson’s Investment as the head counsel for the legal department. At the Sanderson celebration, Beckett fell apart. His divorce, after fifteen years of marriage with cheating ex Tanner, had just become final. Watching happy couples at the party was too emotional, so he went out to the patio and hid while he sobbed. His ex had destroyed his self-confidence, and the fact that he was older now didn’t help. Then the most beautiful young man had found him and said such sweet words, but he panicked and ran. Were they just words, a way for the young man to make a fool of him? Or was there something real?
Stanton is using all of his resources to find the man he met at the party? When he finds the Beckett, will he finally get what he wants?
I love the relationship Mama Clora has with Stanton. They have so much love and respect for each other, and the conversations between them are enjoyable and heartfelt. The author gives the Daddy trope a little twist with age gape and a younger man as the Daddy. Stanton is a delightful, enthusiastic and confidence building young man. He gives Beckett a new outlook on life.
It’s also a story about old friends and making new ones. Tyler was someone Stanton could talk to, and I liked Clark, even though he was a pest. I would like to see him get his own story.
Just One Midnight Kiss is a sweet, funny and very steamy quick-read romance. Smile hit’s the nail on the head – a delightful read.

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.
I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.
My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!
As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.
My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.
I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.
But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
