About The Book

Aspen wants to advance her career; SapphicLover69 wants her dead.
Golden Crown Award Finalist for Mystery/Thriller/Suspense author Edale Lane brings you another novel filled with loveable characters that will keep you guessing.

Sapphic romance author Aspen Wolfe is forced off social media by a vicious online stalker. Putting it behind her, she accepts an invitation to speak at a prestigious writer’s conference where two of her books are up for awards. While she makes new friends at the gathering in New Orleans, her stalker, SapphicLover69, is the last person on her mind—until Aspen gets a text message declaring she is there.

Between authors, industry professionals, and fans, over three hundred people are at the conference, any of whom could be the sinister stalker Aspen sacrificed so much to avoid. To complicate matters, there’s this cute, sci-fi nerd, Winter Bliss, who has proclaimed herself Aspen’s guardian for the duration of the event. But when threats take a dangerous turn, who will make it home from the most haunted city in the South?

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be an author, this first-person sapphic romantic thriller drops you right into comedy, action, drama, and romance. It’s an opposites-attract, run-for-your-life, adventure in self-discovery with characters so real that you’ll swear one of them is you.

The Review

Five years of hard work and so many followers, connections to other authors, upcoming promos for new releases and others from all walks of life – every bit of it gone with a push of a button. Aspen Wolfe made it all disappear, along with her sapphic and queer
connections. When you are an author, what else can you do when you have a stalker?

For Aspen Wolfe it was back to being Mary Jones, just a teacher in Gulfport, Florida. She teaches Junior High English to teens. She is relentlessly average, nowhere near as exciting as Aspen Wolfe.

Mary had a fabulous girlfriend, Tracey, who broke up with her when a motorcycle chick took her out for a ride. The break-up was painful, but in the end it was a good thing for her.

She continued teaching, but threw herself into writing a novel too. She jumped through all the hoops, and a year later there were still hills to climb. Tracey eventually came back – as a friend. She read Mary’s ” the the “Aspen Wolfe” manuscript and suggested self-publishing. She found a mentor in Tammy Fairfield, an older woman and established sapphic author of historical fiction. One year later, Aspen Wolfe’s novel was a #1 hit.

Her popularity got her invited to the Literary Laurels Society convention, put on by Catherine Beech. This was an exciting moment, and a very big step for Aspen, as she would be a presenter at the summer convention in New Orleans.

Attending the convention with Tammy Fairfield and her partner Elizabeth, she meets Winter Bliss a young sci-fi author, and Elaine Parker, an urban fantasy YA author.

Even though Aspen is having a good time, in the back of her mind there’s always the stalker. When she finally takes a break to see if she’s heard from her sister Alice or Tracey, she has forty-two unknown nasty text messages from SapphicLover69. Tammy, Beth, Winter and Elaine are very much aware of Aspen’s stalker, and they become protective of her. They make plans and never leave Aspen alone. As Aspen enjoys herself, she becomes very close to Winter. As tempting as it is, she decides to keep her feelings under control.

There are all types of people at the convention, and everyone is a suspect. Why does someone want to destroy her career as a sapphic author?

A fascinating story of becoming a writer, and all the trials and heartbreak that go along with trying to get your first book off the ground. Once you does finally get a bestseller, there’s the fan base, connections to be made, and the hope to just be recognized. In Lane’s telling, there’s also jealousy and danger that crosses the line.

I liked Aspen, Winter, Tammy, Elizabeth and Elaine. They built a solid friendship together, looked out for each other and never were jealous of each other.

I highly recommend SapphicLover69 by Edale Lane. It’s somewhat different from what she usually writes, but it’s a good, dangerous mystery. I hope other authors will give this entertaining novel a read.

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.

I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.

My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!

As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.

My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.

I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.

But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
