About The Book

Max and TJ had the perfect plan. After Max gets his dream job in Bangkok, TJ was supposed to join him for that coveted “And they lived happily ever after”. But when TJ dies in a tragic accident – their future together seems lost forever.

In the midst of his grief, Max discovers a mysterious engagement ring that TJ had planned to give him. As soon as he puts it on, Max discovers the ring holds an ancient and powerful magic – one that allows him to see and touch TJ’s spirit, and for TJ to interact with the world of the living once more.

As they embark on a new life together, Max and TJ must navigate the consequences of this extraordinary gift and they soon realize that they are not alone in their quest for the ring’s power. The two soon find themselves in the middle of a war between the angelic Celestials and the demonic Sub-Terrestrials – and both sides want to destroy them once and for all.

With the help of a motley crew of supernatural allies – including a shape-shifting fox, a young werewolf, and an immortal pop idol – Max and TJ must fight to protect the wonder in their world.

The Review

Max has found his dream job in Bangkok, and is anxiously awaiting his boyfriend TJ’s arrival. The two men have plans for their future together, but fate has a different plan in mind. While waiting for TJ, Max is busy doing what he does best – photography.

As a photojournalist, Max is always with his camera, taking pictures of things he believes are interesting, like a little boy with a butterfly on his nose. The little boy, about seven years old, is an interesting character. When it appears he is hungry, Max takes him out to eat. He gives him his address, just in case he ever needs anything.

The boy, Taiyo, is seven-and-a-half, lives in a tree and accepts Max as his friend. Taiyo is a wonderful little boy, doing his best to survive, and has no idea the impact Max will have on his young life.

When Max gets home, he receives a phone call from his mother. While driving home, TJ saw something in the road that caused him to crash. He’s dead, and Max’s dream of forever was ended. At TJ’s funeral, his grandmother gives Max a small box that TJ wanted him to have, an engagement ring with a special stone.

Back in Bangkok, Max tries to deal with the death of his soulmate, and begins to have dreams that upon waking seem real. Then the impossible happens. TJ shows up as a ghost, one whom Max can see and speak to. The stone in the ring Max is now wearing is around TJ’s neck – a stone that makes it possible for the two of them to be together. Only Max is having a tough time accepting what is going on.

At home, both men appear normal, but when they are outside, only Max can see TJ. When Max goes to see Taiyo, TJ is there but invisible. He wonders if Max is going to take the boy home with them. TJ knows Max so well.

Taiyo becomes a member of the family. He has secrets of his own. He loves Max, and he can see TJ even though he doesn’t admit it at first. He finally has a family, and is no longer living in a tree.

Max, TJ and Taiyo have no idea how their lives are going to change. Evil will enter their lives, and nothing is going to be normal again.

The characters in this book were wonderful, especially Taiyo. Four stars.
