The Review

A very short but beautiful story. Two men – Florian, an under-gardener, and Everett, a groom – are friends and lovers. Since it is 1805, their relationship must be kept hidden. When Christmas Eve comes, Everett makes Florian promise that he will attend the party that the Lord and Lady are having – something he is loath to do.

Florian stays to himself, and never goes into the manor except to grab something to eat. Everett wants him to come out of his shell, and knows that making him attend the Christmas Eve party could be the beginning of convincing him to start socializing.

Something happens to Florian on his way to the party, something sweet that could change him. Such a lovely story about a man who fears being around people, but learns that his fears were misplaced.
