About The Book

My name is Ezra Clarke, and I’m twenty-three.

Forever.

If you’re counting in vampire years, I’m actually two-hundred and eight, and if living that long has taught me anything, it’s that nothing lasts forever. And that’s been fine. It’s… whatever. I’ve never wanted anything that long, anyway, which is why I’ve never taken a mate, but that all changed when I met Declan Byrne.

He’s young, handsome, and he doesn’t do what I tell him to. He smells like cinnamon and has eyes that remind me of the daytime sky. Every kiss we share feels like home, and no touch lasts long enough.

I need him to be mine.

And for the briefest moment he is, and life is perfect… and then it isn’t. Rogue vampires threaten to pull us apart, and complicated politics are painful reminders that a world exists beyond our privacy of our bedroom.

But if anyone thinks they can keep me away from Declan, they have another thing coming. My mate and I have a thousand lifetimes to live, and we’re just getting started.

The Review

Two hundred eight years ago Ezra Clarke was seduced by a man and woman who deflowered him and then turned him. Now that same man and woman are his mom and dad but he still after all these years can’t get comfortable with being a vampire and how the choice to become one was taken from him.

Wildemount is one of seven cities in Carver County each with it’s own ruling family and Ezra’s dad is the head of the council. Since Ezra was turned by both his mom and dad he is considered to be a full blood and taking his father’s place is his duty, he must rule but first he has to take a mate neither of which he wants to do. Ezra knows that taking a mate requires him to turn the man he chooses and it is something he finds difficult to accept.

At a club Ezra sees a man that grabs his attention enough so that he is willing to meet him in an alley outside the club and do everything but penetration the sure way for him to take Declan’s humanity. Declan Byrne is an orphan growing up in one foster home after another, no family, no friends and a job that supplies him with enough money to pay rent and when he is with Ezra he wants more.

Another meeting at the club breaks down Ezra’s walls and alone with Declan and having sex he does the one thing he swore he would never do he turns him without his permission. Suprisingly Declan is not unhappy about the situation because he had nothing before and now he has a mate and a family.

Ezra and Declan are more than mates they are soul-mates but rogue vampires are determined to put an end to the Clarke’s rule on the council and they set about a plan to do just that. These vampires are not sweet and loving and their plan is so horrendous that I had to take a break from reading about it. What happens between Ezra and Declan and the Clarke family is not for me to reveal.

My only problem with this book was the amount of sex. Almost every page was having sex, talking about sex or thinking about sex. I have read many erotic books but the sex in this book left nothing to the imagination and at times I had to skip passed it. Violence and sex were the focus of this story and if that is something you have trouble with than this book is not for you.

Although I found the sex to be way too much overall I did enjoy the story and the characters.

The Reviewer

I am an avid reader the mother of 3 sons and grandmother to seven grandchildren. Since retiring I have been doing more reading while volunteering as a CASA worker. CASA is an organization that works with the family court system to ensure that children are in the best living situation. There are way too many children that get overlooked in the foster care system and I visit homes and make visits to the parents. I was born and raised in New York and my husband of 50 years and I live in Upstate New York.
