The Clearwater Mysteries are set in 1888 and 1889. This is an ongoing series, and 'Artful Deception' is the sixth instalment. It is best to have read the other books in order. The main characters of the series are gay (bar one) in Victorian Britain. The books are a mix of historical accuracy and invention, gay relationships and love, humour and action, but always, there is a mystery to solve, and the driving force of the characters and stories is male bonding and friendship in times of persecution.
