This time, it’s not just Perry’s career and reputation at stake. If he fails, men will die. And both he and Quinn will suffer a gruesome fate at the hands of a terrifying acolyte of the Spanish Inquisition.
The Review
When I started to read “Pirate Master” I got that feeling of dejavu. The reason soon became clear – this is Gabriel Quinn’s side of the adventurous tale that brought him and Thomas “Perry” Peregrine (The Puritan Pirate) together.
“Pirate Master” is the best tale so far. Radcliffe takes readers on the high-seas in the Caribbean during 1664, surrounded by colorful pirates and their adventures. The novel gets very interesting, with a more in-depth look at Quinn, Perry and Black Wolf, telling readers about the doubt that Black Wolf has about Perry with the discussion that takes place with Quinn. Quinn has learned enough about Perry and knows of his abuse aboard the Royal Covenant, and feels that Perry is not a spy.
“Pirate Master” uncovers the relationship between Black Wolf and Captain Charlotte Roussel, La Colatte Rouge of the Defiant. With revenge in her heart, a head-strong brother Ruse and an evil influence the crew takes on a challenging venture, even though Quinn tries to protect all aboard the Defiant.
Now, with Quinn on the Defiant and Perry aboard the Audacious, they are destined to meet at Port Royal. But the Defiant and Quinn are not to be found. Perry receives two messages from Quinn, one for him and one for Black Wolf. When Perry discusses the message with Black Wolf it seems Black Wolf has given up. Perry has to come up with a plan that will convince Black Wolf to pursue the Defiant and to save Quinn.
Perry already feels he’s failed Quinn. Can he save Quinn or is it already too late?
Besides the in-depth look at Thomas “Perry” Peregrine, Gabriel “Gabe” Quinn and Black Wolf, Jules Radcliffe reveals the secrets, doubts and fears of each of these men, and if the outcome will change anything between them. Radcliffe also gives the reader a clear explanation about the difference in being submissive, mastered and tortured within the characters’ own POV.
“Pirate Master” is overflowing with action, adventure on the high-seas, fierce and devastating battles, excitement, suspense and heart breaking moments.
I want to also point readers to the “Author’s Note.” It’s filled with historical information that helped in creating this novel. I highly recommend “Pirate Master” and can’t wait for the next installment, “The Penitent Pirate”. I’m excited to see if Jules Radcliffe can outdo themself!

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.
I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.
My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!
As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.
My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.
I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.
But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
