Elle Keaton is back, putting Niall Hamarsson and Mat Dempsey through their paces, and it’s a no-holds-barred heart stopper!
It’s hard on Mat, as Niall is in Idaho with his first consulting assignment with West Coast Forensics (WCS). Both Mat and Niall have so much on their minds: a house to build, wedding plans, a and new job that could keep Niall on the road, leaving the Piedras Island PD shorthanded.
The most important thing in their hearts, is for Mat and Niall to protect and love each other under any circumstances.
Now Mat’s dealing with another body popping up, and it could very well reopen some old wounds – heartbreaking memories of the death of Mat’s dad brother.
Then Mat get’s the call that he fears the most.I refuse to say anymore, as this is the best novel yet in the “Hamarsson & Dempsey” series, and I don’t want to give out any spoilers. It’s intense, suspenseful, fast-paced and action-packed. Every corner Niall and Mat turn might reveal deadly danger.
There are many questions. Are they up against human traffickers? Drug smuggling? Corrupt police? What’s causing the high body count in Piedras?
“Blood Moon” is a great step by step investigation, with Niall and Mat coming at it from all directions. There are also so many emotional and heart warming moments, as the love between Mat and Niall just keeps growing.
Along with Mat and Niall, Keaton draws a great cast of secondary characters: Mat’s mom, Alyson Dempsey, his niece Riley, Shay Delacombe, Niall’s half-brother, and Dr. Marshall Soper. Deputy Birdy Flynn is very impressive, and Soren Jorgensen from Skagit is hoping to come on board for Piedras Island PD.
From the WCF we get Leo Zelinsky and Ryder Mann, who has wealth of knowledge and drives Niall crazy.
And my favorite FBI rowdies from Skagit (Accidental Roots) are on board too: grumpy Adam Klay, the man in-charge, and Sacha Bolic, a thorn in Klay’s side. There are also Sammy Ferreira, S. Gomez and Nathaniel Richardson.
Of course Fenrir is back and get’s a new little friend Hel!
The cover art of “Black Moon” by Black Jazz Designs is perfect, as it hints at a new step Mat is ready to take in his life.
The “Hamarsson & Dempsey” series started with “Conspiracy Theory” and just got better with “Long Shadow” and now with “Black Moon,” it’s outstanding!
I highly recommend “Black Moon” – another “on the edge of your seat” page-turner. I can’t say enough about Elle Keaton except that she is “excellent”! I can’t wait to see what she has planned for Niall Hamarsson & Mat Dempsey next.

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.
I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.
My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!
As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.
My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.
I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.
But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
