About The Book
The previous winter, Leon followed his twin sister Sara to a new town where she could be with her partner, Amber. There, Leon’s boyfriend Nick, friends Jeff and Daniel, and their nine-year-old daughter Abby, swiftly swept him up into their lives, a newfound family.
After a year of growing their relationship, Leon is ready to take it to the next level. Nick, however, has been stalling. When Ben, Abby’s best friend, is suddenly abandoned, Leon is excited to finally care for the children he’s always wanted. Haunted by the mistakes of his past, Nick attempts to reconcile his feelings of inadequacy as a parent with Leon’s wishes.
Against the backdrop of winter holidays filled with traditions from around the world, it is up to Leon to decide if he’s willing to stand by Nick, or if he should find his happiness elsewhere.
Catch a Falling Snowflake, the fourth story in the Snow Globes holiday series, can be read as a stand-alone, but greater enjoyment will come with reading about these characters in the order written.
The Review
Although the author did a fine job of updating me on the first three books I just couldn’t get into the story or the characters. I did not particularly like Nick and although he had problems I couldn’t get past his leaving his new born daughter after his wife died at childbirth. For seven years he was gone and never ever held his baby. Now he is back and for the last two years he has tried to make amends.
His wife’s twin brother Jeff adopted Abby and she is growing up happy calling Nick uncle which he is more than happy with. Now it has been a year that he has been in a relationship with Leon and he still can’t commit to living together and definitely have different opinions when it comes to having children something Nick is not ready for and may never be ready for.
When Abby’s best friend Ben’s foster parents have to leave town, they think nothing of packing a bag and dropping him off to be someone else’s problem. Leon would love to have Ben live with them but Nick isn’t willing to live with a child, any child.
Ben and Abby were the best part of this this story – I really related to these characters. It was Ben that touched my heart – the story of a fractured foster care system and the children that suffer from it.

I am an avid reader the mother of 3 sons and grandmother to seven grandchildren. Since retiring I have been doing more reading while volunteering as a CASA worker. CASA is an organization that works with the family court system to ensure that children are in the best living situation. There are way too many children that get overlooked in the foster care system and I visit homes and make visits to the parents. I was born and raised in New York and my husband of 50 years and I live in Upstate New York.
