About The Book
Heist rule number one? Never fall for your mark.
Grif’s always followed the one rule in the high stakes business of heists: never fall for your mark. At least, until he meets Danilo Torres…
Grif Blackmore’s team of thieves, the Outlaws, take down wicked corporations and nab fantastic paydays. However, when their latest heist fails, they end up in debt to the mafia, which puts the pressure on for their next job targeting Torres Industries to go off without a hitch.
There’s one problem. The CEO of Torres Industries, Danilo Torres, happens to not only be dead sexy but unaware of his company’s corruption. When the sparks flare between Grif and Danilo, Grif can’t help but fall for his mark.
Grif is left with a decision to make. Is he willing to throw it all away for the man who’s caught his interest or is there a chance to play Robin Hood without losing it all?
The Review
Due to a family tragedy, Grif Blackmore has one superstition: “no jobs on Tuesday”. He’s a modern day Robin Hood of sorts – he steels from big corrupt corporations and gives back to the people that who have been harmed or are needy. His Outlaws consist of John, Alanna, Tuck and Scarlett – and each has some very unique expertise. With one mistake made and a botched job, Grif now owes a debt to mafia boss, Nevarra. As time is running out, Grif has a plan to take down the corrupt Torres Industries and his mark, Danilo Torres.
Danilo Torres, aka Dan, is the CEO of Torres Industries. He’s trying to find discrepancies in the company financial statements and get the company back on track, but he’s also fighting the older board members.
Dan is stuck in a position he never wanted, but in order to keep connected to his family, he obeyed his fathers demands. Dan wanted only to complete his degree and seek a career as a mechanical engineer. He knows his older sister, Vanessa, was the rightful person to be CEO.
Dan’s best friend Leo runs the IT department, and is the only other person he can trust besides his sister Vanessa.
When Dan decides to interview new prospects, he meets Greg Locksley of Neo-National and things become interesting and spicy between them. But then everything starts to backfire on Dan, his sister, and the board – including blackmail. When Leo investigates Neo-National, things get worse, and Dan needs to make some difficult decisions.
Grif is carrying a load of trouble on his shoulders: Nevarra and longtime rivals Doncaster and Kirklees. Grif will do anything to protect the Outlaws. If he can’t pull this new plan off in time, he and the Outlaws will have to go underground, because he won’t risk their lives for anything or anyone.
Katherine McIntyre is a new author for me, and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. “Midnight Heist” is loaded with tension, suspense, fast pacing, gritty action galore, and lots of humor. The plot is intricate and well-timed, and the Robin Hood theme was very creative.
Dan and Grif are great characters. For some reason they were a breath of fresh air to me. This is by no means “insta-love,” but the author gives just the right amount of a connection between the two that it’s not overly done.
The secondary characters are also all really interesting: Alanna, John, Tuck, Scarlett and Leo. Leo and Scarlett in particular are outstanding, and I can’t wait to see what the author has planned for them.
“Midnight Heist” has high potential for the start of a new series. I’m hooked and have my eye out for the next “Outlaws” installment!

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.
I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.
My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!
As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.
My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.
I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.
But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
