About The Book
Everything’s fantastic. At least, Jason thinks so. He and Colby are working together on a new movie and falling into bed together at night, a life full of stories and happy endings.
But it’s been a long night shoot. They’re both tired. And now Colby’s injured.
It isn’t serious, but Jason can’t help worrying … especially when he discovers one more story from Colby’s childhood. He couldn’t protect Colby then, but he can now. He’ll spend the rest of the night making sure Colby feels safe and happy, and thoroughly loved. After all, he’s very good at making all of Colby’s fantasies come true …
The Review
This was the first time I read one of the Character Bleed tales featuring Jason Mirelli and Colby Kent, and since this was a very short story, I didn’t get to know too much about them. It’s clear that they are very much in love, and that Colby has a painful past.
This story reveals a sad part of Colby’s life. At the age of eleven, with parents who rarely acknowledged him, he tried to make dinner and cut himself, but they didn’t even notice his bandaged hand.
Wanting to help Colby and heal the bruises he got on the movie set where they work as actors together, Jason decides on a night of role playing. After all, role play is how they make their living, so why not enjoy a bit of it in bed?
Although I don’t know much about Colby and Jason, I enjoyed these two characters, and learned enough to want to read more about them.

I am an avid reader the mother of 3 sons and grandmother to seven grandchildren. Since retiring I have been doing more reading while volunteering as a CASA worker. CASA is an organization that works with the family court system to ensure that children are in the best living situation. There are way too many children that get overlooked in the foster care system and I visit homes and make visits to the parents. I was born and raised in New York and my husband of 50 years and I live in Upstate New York.
