About The Book

Orfeus the hunter is searching for redemption in the wake of destruction…

Orfeus has always loved grand gestures. And what could be grander than risking her life to gain entry to the fabled Cloud Forest to find one of humanity’s greatest losses and make a gift of it to her beloved? But the cost proves higher than she could have ever imagined and now she is on the run, navigating a whole new world of danger with few allies and even fewer friends.

Arcon, the Cloud Forest’s mechanized guardian, is determined to track her down, even if it means destroying everything in their way. Even if it means convincing Jean, a traumatized young trans man escaping a cult, to host them in order to complete their mission.

Can Orfeus figure out a way out of the mess that she’s created and work with the Order of the Vengeful Wild and their allies to fix what she’s broken before their world is pushed once more to the brink?

The Review

Orfeus now has to deal with being Leader of the Order of the Vengeful Wild. It was not a decision she made freely – Luga basically forced her hand, and it created a division between her and Wolf, whose support and loyalty she really needs.

Orfeus is not the type of Leader that Luga was. She goes out with members of the Wild to stop predators, but she also wants to bring change and to make the future world better. It’s not always easy.  The adjustment weighs on her, and Wolf doesn’t accept her decisions.

Orfeus, Tai, Velvet Worm, Juana, Shark and Ocelot have a job to do in the town of Opalescent.  At one time the Opal’s Own was a much better place, but now it’s a wayhouse. It has also become a place of unspeakable torture for travelers and locals.  Orfeus’s team will have to face an evil man who practices an ancient bigotry.

Madam Faustine is grateful for Orfeus’ help, and she offers ways to pay the debt. The Wild will always be welcome in Opalescent.

Wolf’s and Orfeus’ relationship has grown, but there’s still a secret between them. Orfeus wants to make a gift to Wolf of the Cloud Forest, but once again she will face dilemmas that could push their world to the edge of destruction.

Wolfpack is an expertly-written tale set in a post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, solar punk world, following up on book one, Foxhunt. The author expands on each character and the diversityof their world. There are many emotional scenes in this fantastically told story.

This book is all about healing and caring for each other and keeping the lines of communication open. But most of all, it’s about getting along regardless of our differences, and the need to keep the world green, now and for the future.

The romance in this novel gives me hope for a beautiful future for all, especially Orfeus and Wolf.

Once again, there’s an abundance of characters from the last book that make this novel shine, and some new ones too, including  Jean, Arcon, Frankie and so many more.

Wolfpack is the second book in the “Orfeus Tales” duology by Rem Wigmore. I highly suggest reading Foxhunt first, as this story picks up right where “Foxhunt” leaves off. It will help you understand the plight of these characters, who are looking for ways of conservation and making their future better.

I look forward to revisiting this series in the future.

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California.  Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018.  My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen.  New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.

I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.

My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012.  She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series.  Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!

As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.

My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing.  I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.

I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews.  One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group.  Joining her site was such an eye opener.  I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.

But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
