He’s excited about tying the knot with Norm in the company of all their friends. It’s everything Norm promised him during their bleakest days of incarceration and he doesn’t think he can be any happier.
Waking up at Arald’s, Norm's sole mission in life is to help his Fated Mate, Theo, survive the horrors inflicted on them both. Now free, he sets about to make all of Theo’s dreams come true, including the most important one, the cub his mate so dearly wants.
Smokey heads North to pick up Kevin’s parents and deliver them to the Blackwood Pack before hurrying back to LA. Easy-peasy…right? That’s what Smokey thinks but then, what is supposed to be a simple mission, turns into a race to avoid human hunters who have already shot Kevin’s father. Using his skills honed as a secret agent, Smokey manages to elude the hunters, heal the father’s wound and then successfully transport them to safety only to find the Fates have a surprise waiting for him.
After a series of misunderstandings and then with some help from Jackson, the pack’s Alpha, Theo and Norm finally accept Smokey as their mate and set upon a journey to unite the three of them. Discovering truths about their past lives leads to uncovering long-kept secrets that end up bonding Theo, Norm and Smokey together, giving each more love and happiness than they ever knew existed.

Pausing in the forest, Smokey’s eyes shifted upward through the tall, fir trees, searching for the sound he’d heard, grinning when he spied a gorgeous Red-Tailed Hawk silhouetted against the deep blue, afternoon sky. He was finally on the last leg of his mission to rescue the parents of his friend, Kevin, and was eager to see them. It had been a long time since he’d visited them, but with his work for the agency and his bear’s preference for a solitary life, it was all too easy for the years to slip by. “Tempus fugit,” he muttered. Smokey watched the hawk flutter to the ground and then shift. “Watcha got?”
Grabbing his clothes from Smokey, Hawkeye replied, “I found the cave, but it’s surrounded by…”

READ MORESmokey dove for cover as the sound of gunfire echoed off the mountainside. Glancing around, he saw the men in his team had done the same; thank the gods they’d had the sense to do so. Ghost would never forgive him if any of the men he’d loaned Smokey got injured—or worse—killed. It was one of the reasons he didn’t want them along in the first place, plus he preferred to work alone on missions. It was his way of operating and the only exceptions to his hard and fast rule were Ghost and Snow White. His trust in them was absolute. But Snow White was in France with his mates, and Ghost was in LA, trying to ferret out more information about the Collector.
Gunfire was the last thing he expected to hear on the trek up to the cave where Kevin’s parents were hiding. Snorting quietly, he should have guessed the mission wasn’t going to be a simple retrieval, given that it began with his friend’s mysterious disappearance. Sending Hawkeye to scout out the area had just been standard operating procedure; he wasn’t expecting trouble—especially in this remote location.

An assault weapon and a high powered rifle…shit! Given the timing of the shots, Smokey knew there were at least two men firing…but at what or maybe I should be askin’ who? And it was the last part of his thought that worried him the most because by his figuring, the men were near the cave where Kevin’s parents were hiding out. Which meant they were in danger of being whacked by the unknown assailants. Damn it! Hearing a slight rustle on his left, his muscles tightened in response before he realized who it was.
“Hey, Smokey,” Ivan whispered, belly crawling over until he was next to his boss.
Nodding in acknowledgement, Smokey then shifted his eyes back to the location of the gunshots but only silence greeted him, causing his bear to rear up to his full height. He knew what that meant: his bear wanted to go hunting for the assholes who were threatening the people he regarded as his parents. While he certainly was in agreement with his animal, it was too risky until he had more intel. And that required some specific information.
Looking back at Ivan, Smokey gestured with his hand, indicating a silent retreat until they were out of shooting range of the attackers. Receiving a short nod from him, Smokey carefully inched his way backward down the hard-packed dirt trail, keeping his eyes on the rest of his men as they followed his lead.
