About The Book
Efe quits his job and sells his estate after finding his partner in bed with his best friend, starting a new life in a small town called Elmhurst. Then after a while, he begins to enjoy living in his large log cabin among the woods. The only thing he desired was a housekeeper.
Things get complicated when Efe hires Samh, a mysterious arrival in town, as his housekeeper. The vows Efe made about single living, and Samh’s hopes for a new future come to a grinding halt when the two men are drawn to each other.
Sometimes, a sprinkle of magic, patience, and a few toys can turn all hurt and angst into a serious dose of happiness.
Warning: Adult fantasy gay romance with explicit scenes. This story is a stand-alone, but it is preferable to have read Daddy In Training to get acquainted with Faine and his mate David.
The Review
Efe is a lawyer who’s on his way home to surprise his boyfriend, Eric. Even though Efe is older than Eric, he has become comfortable with their relationship – until his surprise visit turns into a nightmare when he walks into his bedroom to find his friend and Eric naked in bed together. Eric’s betrayal forces Efe to change his life. He sells the family home, resigns from his job and moves to a cabin in the woods in Elmhurst. It takes him awhile to get used to the quiet after living in the city, but in time he finds the peace he’s been seeking.
He has more than enough money to live a wonderful and full life, but he has one problem. He hates to clean. He has had no luck finding someone to accept the position of housekeeper, so he places an ad, hoping to get lucky while the dust and dirt accumulate.
Samh is a brownie who can’t keep a job and is a laughingstock because he prefers playing with toys to doing his job cleaning. Samh never knew affection, and was only hugged once, by Faine, the Guardian of the woods who looks after everyone in need. In the past, Samh only ate once a day – leftovers – and he slept in a cupboard, but now he had no cupboard and no leftovers. Tired of the ridicule, he asks Faine to remove his magic.
Samh finds himself in a strange place with a very bleak outlook. He sees a trail of smoke and finds a cabin in the woods. Cold and hungry, he sits on the porch until he is discovered by Efe.
Efe’s first thought is that this strange little man is answering his ad for a housekeeper. Unaccustomed to human ways, Samh asks strange questions, such as where the creek in the bathroom is, which is the way it was back home. When Efe agrees to give him a month trial as a housekeeper, Samh is thrilled to work for “Master Effie.” Efe tells him many times not to call him Master and not to call him Effie, but his requests fall on death ears.
As things between Efe and Samh begin to slip into a routine Efe recognizes that Samh is a “little” and he works at making his new charge comfortable and happy. Their relationship grows, but Efe once again faces the fear of falling for someone much younger than him – been there done that, and came out with a broken heart. Efe is convinced that Samh ran away from a cult – he can’t read or write, he has disfigured fingers and is constantly afraid. And the little explanations that Samh offers sound like something from a fairytale.
Efe encourages Samh to be himself, to indulge his love of toys and his desire to be a “little” be free.
I loved Samh’s purity, goodness and innocence, and Efe’s determination to help a lost young man find happiness and love. Of course, there is a lot of sex. I have a new understanding of what being a “little” is all about. We are all entitled to be who we want to be, and it would be nice if everyone believed that.

There are way too many children that get overlooked in the foster care system and I visit homes and make visits to the parents.
