The Review

Bells has returned to the other side of the wall that separates Miami from the Liberty City Zone. LCFree has not changed – its glory days are long gone, and it’s the same devastating place it has been for a long time. LCFree is anything but free.

Barely anyone is on the road but Bells and his cycle. It’s a place of danger for him – he’s already had a near death experience there.  He’s on a personal mission, and has been warned by Steeltiger that trouble is brewing, so it doesn’t phase him when gunfire shatters the air. Soon his attackets all lay dead and vultures and scavengers start to strip them, to take anything and everything to the Ghoul, who will sell the usable meat to the corps.

Bells has his own dark secrets, but now it’s time to put his plan in motion. He needs info and a security patch to keep David Jessman safe. The only one who can get him what he needs is Sierra netrider.

Bell also meets with Katerina, his gunwhore broker. He’s not happy that someone has been looking for information on Jessman, and he’s determined to take care of anyone who touches his moneyboy. Jessman is his, and he won’t hesitate to do what he needs to do in order to keep him safe.

David has made his way to NeuroTech. He has to find a way to get his dignity back, since he was totally non-productive during a full day’s work. With the help from Bells on the polymer gel formula, David stands up to his boss, Doctor Hartland, especially when Hartland refers to Bells as “nilhuman.”  David goes one step further, and takes the issue of Hartland to Director Carlos Perez. He finds himself with a golden opportunity, but what will he have to sacrifice?

Bells realizes that David is in danger, and not just because of Perez, who has given David an ultimatum. He’ll get to David come hell or high-water, but will David be dead or alive?

Breakthrough, book five in the “Through Neon Eyes” series, takes us into the extremely dangerous worlds of the LCFree and the corp, and contains some amazingly horrific and gory fight scenes between Bells and Katana Blue.  There’s always something new and interesting in this cyber/steam punk series.

David and Bells are opposites, but both want the same thing, something which many never come to fruition. When they both come close to figuring things out, they’re once again interrupted.  What will it take for them to reach the end? This volume left me craving more, and starts out with a bang, a fast paced, action-packed, dark, gritty and gory futuristic thriller.

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.

I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.

My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!

As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.

My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.

I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.

But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
