About The Book
Wild Blue Yonder: A Collection of Three MM Cowboy Romance Stories
- The Heir and the Outlaw: A Historical MM Cowboy Heist Romance by Rena Butler
- You Be the Flower: A Sweet Historical MM Cowboy Romance by Augusta Connor
- Welcome to Blue Blaze Ranch: An Alpha/Beta MM Omegaverse Romance by Opal Moritz
Saddle up with three all-new gay MM cowboy romances from some of the most up-and-coming queer romance writers right now. Wild Blue Yonder contains a trio of novellas inspired by the open range, and the cowboys who are frequently secretly fond of each other to be found there. From historical romance of love on the range, to outlaws on horseback, to a contemporary twist on the Omegaverse. These three novellas are full of love, sweetness, sauciness, and strapping cowpokes. Take a trip out west, and find love – under the wild blue yonder.
Warnings: “The Heir and the Outlaw”is set in the 1870s and contains period-typical homophobia and period-typical racial language.
The Review
This is a pleasing collection of three novellas by three different authors. All are on a ‘wild west’ theme. The first two are historical.
In “The Heir and the Outlaw,” Archie and Emmet meet as enemies, but their hatred for Archie’s father turns them into collaborators, and then lovers. The author brings to life the realities and pitfalls of life in nineteenth century America.
In “You Be The Flower,” the mail order bride trope is nicely twisted. Nat applies for a position, aware that he is the ‘wrong’ gender. but Jamie welcomes him anyway. The story is sweet and gentle, and has a nice ff subplot.
The third story, “Welcome to Blue Blaze Ranch,” takes place in the present day, but in an alpha/omega ‘verse alternative reality. Kieran is so anxious not to be like his father that he has denied all his instincts, until his beta friend Arturo comes back into his life. I rarely read omegaverse, but this was beautifully told, and the explanations were adequate for someone not totally familiar with the genre.
A good collection, especially for anyone who likes tales set in the wild west! 5 stars.
The Reviewer
I’ve been doing book reviews on my website, crossposted or linked to various social media, for a few years. I read a number of genres but I really enjoy all kinds of speculative fiction so thought I’d like to share my views with you. I love sci fi and other speculative fiction because of the way it can, at its best, make us see ourselves in a new light. Quite apart from the exciting stories, of course! I used to be an English teacher, and I’m a writer (fantasy) so I can be quite critical about style etc. but I hope I can also appreciate properly some books that don’t appeal to me personally but might be simply perfect for others. I have, obviously, read widely, and continue to do so.
