About The Book

Have you ever had a crush? Have you ever had a crush so astronomically huge you were willing to tell the person anything to make them fall in love with you? If you’re Annalise Dresden, then the answer is yes. Yes you have. And you’re in way over your head.

The Review

Frankie is a young woman with low self-esteem who works at Big Lots. She lives with her brother Ronnie, who she looks after due to his depression. One day, the alarms go off, and she sees a woman walking out of the store with merchandise Frankie is sure she didn’t pay for, but she is taken by the woman’s good looks. Frankie has never hidden the fact that she is gay, but she knows that a woman so beautiful would never want a woman like her.

Leece, aka Annalise, went to Big Lots to buy some things and when she saw Frankie, it was love at first sight. Leece kept returning to the store to see the woman who she couldn’t get out of her mind. But she hasn’t even asked for her phone number. Leece has problems – she gets severe headaches, and she’s an alcoholic. The alcohol helps with the headaches, but she drinks all the time, with or without them.

Leece finally meets up with Frankie at a club where her brother Ronnie is performing with his band, and asks her out. Frankie can’t believe that a woman like Leece wants to date her, and is surprised by how much they have in common. Whatever Frankie loves, Leece loves, even though Leece doesn’t know half of what she is talking about. She wants Frankie to love her, and is willing to do whatever she has needs to in order to make that happen. Even if it means lying.

I don’t want to give anything away, but there are many surprises, lies, betrayal and secrets – and I was shocked by some of them.

Four stars.

The Reviewer

I am an avid reader the mother of 3 sons and grandmother to seven grandchildren. Since retiring I have been doing more reading while volunteering as a CASA worker. CASA is an organization that works with the family court system to ensure that children are in the best living situation. There are way too many children that get overlooked in the foster care system and I visit homes and make visits to the parents. I was born and raised in New York and my husband of 50 years and I live in Upstate New York.
