Review: Guns n’ Boys: Bloodbath (Guns n’ Boys #6) by K.A. Merikan

“I don’t even know who I am anymore.”
“All you need to know is that you’re mine.”

Seth would follow Domenico to the depths of hell. He promised to always be at Domenico’s side. But hell becomes all too real when they infiltrate the world of Toro – a notoriously security-obsessed arms dealer, who has eyes and ears everywhere.

Seth becomes unable to steal even a moment of intimacy with Domenico, and the tension grinds them down each day. Beyond the deceptive paradise of Toro’s villa, violence is an everyday occurrence, and the swimming pool could just as well be filled with blood. To survive, Seth has to become the man Domenico needs him to be, but in the process, he might lose who he truly is.

With Seth trained up, and Mark as backup, victory is so close Domenico can taste it. They just need to prove themselves to Toro as valuable assets. With each day though, Seth seems to be drifting away from Domenico, hidden behind a mask of cruelty and indifference. It is exactly what Domenico asked of him, so why is it so difficult to see Seth become his mirror image?

Clever, scary and just amazing.
Frankly, if you’ve not read this series, you really need to. I adore Seth and Dom (and Mark). I don’t give a flying fuck that this series is violent and bloodthirsty and gruesome. I don’t care that it makes me question my morals (before I remember it’s only fiction). I just liove, love, love this series.
I have to admit – I may have paused in my reading and questioned Dom a little in the opening chapters of this story. He’s tough, he needs to be tough and he makes choices most of us (sane and moral folks) couldn’t. What KA Merikan do though is make me be on Dom’s side. He’s a killer who I’ve come to understand. Who I’ve come to support even…

Audiobook Review: Hanging the Stars (Half Moon Bay #2) by Rhys Ford

Angel Daniels grew up hard, one step ahead of the law and always looking over his shoulder. A grifter’s son, he’d learned every con and trick in the book but ached for a normal life. Once out on his own, Angel returns to Half Moon Bay where he once found…and then lost…love.

Now, Angel’s life is a frantic mess of schedules and chaos. Between running his bakery and raising his troubled eleven-year-old half-brother, Roman, Angel has a hectic but happy life. Then West Harris returns to Half Moon Bay and threatens to break Angel all over again by taking away the only home he and Rome ever had.

When they were young, Angel taught West how to love and laugh but when Angel moved on, West locked his heart up and threw away the key. Older and hardened, West returns to Half Moon and finds himself face-to-face with the man he’d lost. Now, West is torn between killing Angel or holding him tight.

But rekindling their passionate relationship is jeopardized as someone wants one or both of them dead, and as the terrifying danger mounts, neither man knows if the menace will bring them together or forever tear them apart.

Listening Length: 7 hours 41 minutes
Narrator: Greg Tremblay

Greg Tremblay is always magical in narration, and I have not listened to an audiobook yet where I didn’t love his performance. He has a pretty impressive range, and his character presentation is always unique from one character to the next. This book was no different. Five Hearts for narration.

This story was pretty fun to listen to. The first in the series took a while for me to warm up to, but I’m glad I have that backstory before listening to this one. It is pretty much a requirement. I don’t think this would be half as enjoyable without reading book one. So if you haven’t read/listened to Fish Stick Fridays, go and do that now.

Angel was a great character, and I loved how he was portrayed. Strong, independent, but somewhat vulnerable, Angel was the star in this story for me. His rough past has certainly created a core of steel within, but he is still open to life, and making sure his brother gets whatever he can give him. He is loyal, and determined, with a heart of gold, and the life experience to know when to give it out, and when to keep it concealed.

Review: The Puritan Pirate by Jules Radcliffe

The Caribbean, 1664

An uptight naval lieutenant. A free-living buccaneer. Enemies from the first.

It all changes the night Quinn reluctantly rescues Lieutenant Peregrine from the consequences of his folly. Their tentative truce leads to a wild tryst and the thrilling discovery that their unconventional desires are perfectly matched.

Perry is the most delightfully submissive lover Quinn has ever had, and he wants Perry by his side for good. But such an affair would not only end Perry’s career, he may never be able to return to England and his family. Fearful of discovering Perry’s desire for respectability is stronger than his love, Quinn leaves him behind in Port Royal.

But in his darkest hour, Quinn discovers that Perry will risk his life for them to be together.

It was like this was written for me…

“Will you punish me?”
“Do you need to be punished?”
“I have such… wicked thoughts of you.”
“Dear God, I hope you do.”

Pirate fans? This is the book for you. I can’t believe how wonderful this book was. And as I look through my pages upon pages of quotes, I can’t help but gush from this novel. (Seriously, I probably highlighted a third of this book)

New-to-me author Jules Radcliffe delivered historical kinky pirates with action and adventure. “Perry” aka Lieutenant Thomas Peregrine is an uptight Puritan British naval soldier ordered to be on buccaneer (pirate) ship, Audacious.  Pirates and the British are working together, pirates no longer are considered against the King’s army with proper documents. But on Audacious, led by the famous captain Black Wolf, no one trusts Perry.
