Chance Met 2
by
Trey Damone is falling in love with his partner Jeremiah Crawford. Hell, he’s probably already there. But he’s keeping a massive secret from Jeremiah: Trey is a werewolf, and his neighbors are his pack. If Jeremiah learns the truth, their relationship might be over.
Although he’s only known Trey and his young son Mikey for a short time, Crawford can’t picture his life without them. But he knows Trey is hiding something, and Crawford has a secret of his own: His boss is a sorcerer.
When Mikey is threatened, Trey and Crawford must work together to protect him. And that means revealing their secrets. Otherwise Trey might lose his son forever.
This book includes references to past child abduction; past abuse; homophobia on the part of some secondary characters; abduction of an adult and threats of that adult’s death; and a sex scene between two men which, while consensual, involves one participant taking control of the other without prior negotiation. This book is set in the Real Werewolves Don't Eat Meat universe but is not a direct part of that series.

“Yeah. Maybe it does.” Trey bit his lip. “Anyway, so you earned my trust, and I asked my Alpha—the werewolf in charge of the pack I belong to—for permission to tell you the truth. I didn’t know if he would agree. A werewolf can petition for permission to tell a human romantic partner if the relationship has progressed to a point where telling the partner seems important.”
“Ours has.”
“Yes, but…” Trey hesitated. “You’re a man. I’m a man. I didn’t know what the Alpha would think about that. There are probably more gay werewolves than we’re aware of, but other than me, we only know about two others, and they’re a couple.”
READ MORETobias and Kyle. Trey’s former neighbors. They were definitely a couple, and Crawford was quite certain Tobias, at least, was a werewolf. Kyle was harder to read, but Crawford was reasonably sure he was a werewolf too. He didn’t want to ask if he was right. Trey had permission to tell Crawford he was a werewolf but not to tell him about anyone else.
“Do you think your Alpha is homophobic?” he asked instead.
Trey shook his head. “The opposite. He was the one who allowed T—the other two I mentioned to declare each other as mates in front of everyone. Most would have forbidden it. He wasn’t my Alpha then. He was in charge of the entire region, so his word carried a lot of weight.”
“Region?”
“I can’t explain it all to you.” Trey scoffed. “Too much information, and some of it still feels blocked anyway. We have packs and regions within each country. The Alpha of my pack used to be in charge of the region that the pack is part of. He and the previous Alpha kind of switched ranks.”
“Ah.” Maybe that explained why Tobias and Kyle had moved.
“You took this a lot better than I thought you would.” Trey looked at him uncertainly. “You already knew, didn’t you?”
“Not exactly, but I knew there was something.” He paused. “I didn’t want to cause you any trouble by knowing something I wasn’t supposed to, and I definitely didn’t want to push you to tell me anything. But you—and a few others I won’t name, because I know you can’t tell me about them—feel different from humans.”
“Yeah, don’t tell me who else you suspect.” With a deep sigh, Trey ran his hand over his face. “I can’t answer you about anyone else. I’d be in deep shit if I did.”
“I know. I won’t ask you to tell me anything more.”
“Thank you.” To Crawford’s surprise, Trey turned and pulled him into a tight hug. “Thank you for hearing me. Believing me. And for not running away.”
“I’ll never run away from you if I have the choice.” Crawford kissed Trey’s cheek. “I love you, Trey.”
He’d said it. The words that had rolled around in his mind since shortly after he met Trey. The ones he hadn’t been sure he would ever be ready to speak aloud, though he’d done everything possible to show how he felt.
Now those words hung between them, and time seemed to stop as Crawford waited for Trey to say something. Anything.
Finally, Trey spoke. “I love you too.”
