The D.O.A. series should be read in standalone, but you really should read them in order to understand the characters.

A serial arsonist has just burned down Jude Riddle’s family home, and is now trying to burn the people of D.O.A. out of Texas. Jude wants answers and is willing to work with anyone to get them, even if help comes in the form of century-year-old men with dragons as partners. Especially if one of those agents is Rance “Casper” Caldwell and his soul binding dragon, Smoky.
Casper has never accepted his maharishi in his renewed life. His beliefs were cut and dry. Death was final, and dragons were demons. However, since Casper had already died once and now walked the earth and was joined with a dragon by a higher power, did this mean he was an evil demon now, or was everything taught to him as a child a lie.
Discovering Jude to be his and Rance’s mate brought a light into what had been a dark, lonely existence to Smoky. He wanted nothing more than to claim what fate had gifted him, but to do so, meant he also had to strengthen his bind with Casper. Could he do this after all the hurt the man had caused him for centuries? Well, he better decide quick, because time is running out for him and Casper and an arsonist is nipping at their mates heels.

Excerpt:

Clara sighed, “You are very good at being D.O.A. agents, but not so good at being social at all. What do you know about each other? I’ve never heard any of you talk about friends or people from back home. You talk shop and nothing else. As long as you have been together, you should have already been family. I have a question. Before you went to war and died, how many of you had family?”

Wiz raised his hand as did Boomer. Solo gave a nod and no one else said a thing.

“It’s like I thought. You all never really had anyone to call family. So, from this point on, if you like, and I hope you do, I would like you to call me mom. When you look at the man next to you, in front of you, or behind you, I want you to call them brother. We are all we have. Family is everything. If you are willing to lay your life down for the people in this room, then you should accept them as your family.” Clara said then stood up.

Taking her plate to the sink, Clara rinsed it off and placed it in the dishwasher. Turning around, Clara said, “Wiz! Boomer! Counters, stove, table, and trash are all part of dishes. You all can have your shop talk now, I’m going to watch my shows.”

“She’s right, you know?” Bren softly said.

Pit sighed, “I have always thought of everyone in this room as more than just coworkers.”

“You do?” Wiz asked in amazement.

“Of course, Wiz. We have all been through a shit ton together. I can’t imagine driving into Drago without all of you. We have seen each other at some really low times and celebrated together through some high times. I don’t know one man in this room I would not willingly die for and I know you all feel the same way. So as far as I’m concerned, we are brothers, blood or not that’s what we are.” Pit stated firmly.

This is the second book of D.O.A We get to see more of Bren, Jude & Rylee. We see the special bond that some have wit their Maharishi. Rance doesn't feel totally connected to Smoky and will they fade away or will A loud mouth step in and kick butt. We see that family is more than just being blood and when family behind you then anything can be reached. This is a must-read book. Recommend to read in order to have the full background of the characters. You will fall in love with all their activities. Can't wait to see what next hopefully Taj story.

From Pennsylvania we travel to Texas to help Jude’s mom after house is destroyed by a fire. The relationship between Jude, Casper, and Smokey is different. There was more issues between Casper and Smokey than Jude and Casper. It was very interesting.

While trying to sort out their relationship, we have the fire investigation going on. There is a lot of action and emotion. I can’t wait for the next book.

About the Author

I was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky. I’m a military brat that travelled a bit overseas and throughout many parts of the United States. I finally settled in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where I eventually got married and then divorced. I was blessed with two fantastic sons. As they grew up and became young men chasing their dreams. I felt that maybe now was the time for me to do the same. That’s when I started writing. Never in a million years did I expect to meet the most wonderful man in the world, move to Quebec, Canada, and get married. However, that is exactly what happened. JP has introduced me to things like; canoeing, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and has taken me to some of the most beautiful locations. Ones that I had only ever seen on a computer or read about in books. I may miss my mountains and my boys, but have discovered that when you work towards your dreams, the future can be one filled with happiness and love. My boys are only a plane ride away, and Skype is a glorious thing. So I say, on to my next adventure…don’t be shocked to find it in one of my books.
