Busy concentrating on family issues, Jimmy hasn’t taken a new case in nearly three months, and when a call comes in from Philip Connelly, who wants proof of his wife, Myra’s, cheating, Jimmy is torn. The police believe it was suicide, but Myra—a self-admitted adulteress—is convinced he was murdered. Jimmy agrees to take the case. But it seems his decision to rejoin the world has also affected the other areas of his life: his sister is facing a health crisis, an old friend from his father’s past has resurfaced, and his lover, Captain Francis X. Frisano, is working a difficult case in Chelsea where gay men are being attacked.
If that wasn’t enough, Jimmy is on the hunt to bring down his new nemesis, the criminal mastermind Mr. Wu-Tin. A fire at one of his warehouses stirs fear in Jimmy that the man is trying to destroy evidence of his crimes. That’s when life throws him a twist, and suddenly Jimmy feels that just as he’s hoping to find answers, new mysteries emerge about whether the path he’s on leads to a fresh start, or a fresh kill.

After my initial publisher ceased operations, all rights were reverted to me.
Fortunately, I found a new home with JMS Books, and they have reissued all of the Jimmy McSwain Files. The all have new covers: HIDDEN IDENTITY, CRIME WAVE, STAGE FRIGHT, GUARDIAN ANGEL, FOREVER HAUNT, FRESH KILL, and SECOND SHOT.
And finally, this year I finished the eighth book in the series, FALSE JUSTICE, which JMS released this fall, first in eBook, with a paperback edition coming soon.
For fans of the series, I hope you’ll find FALSE JUSTICE a satisfying continuation of the series. For new readers, I recommend that you read the books in order to get the full effect of the ongoing story of Jimmy and all the supporting characters.
Also newly reissued is my “Cane’s Inlet Mystery” series: SCANDLOUS LIES, SINISTER MOTIVES, and SUSPICIOUS TRUTHS. Again, best read in order. Books 1 and 2 end on cliffhangers, with a resolution at the end of Book 3. It’s a good old-fashioned soap opera, with a sexy and mysterious edge.
There are new projects in the works, including a forthcoming novella called COMING/ARRIVAL, featuring Johnny Lee Capstone, of my DUDE RANCH series.
