When love of his life, Adam Wagner, died in his arms, Jeff Kerry’s life shuddered to a halt. Stuck in that one dreadful moment in time and broken by the dark secret which still haunted his every dream, he found it impossible to move on.
Cocky, brazen Trent Peterson exploded into his life, in a whirlwind of vibrant magnetism. Refusing to accept ‘no’ for an answer, Trent fought his way past Jeff’s instinctive retreat, and eased Adam’s memory to one side, claiming a place of his own in Jeff’s life and heart.
At long last Jeff took a few, tentative steps, opening his heart once again to the possibility of love. Led by Trent’s strong, supportive hand, he slowly left the darkness behind and stumbled toward the light.
But an unexpected visitor at Trent’s door brings a shocking revelation and a demand which reawakens Jeff’s most deep-seated fear. Can he go through this again? Will he have to?

“And don’t tell me it’s meaningless, Jeff. No emotional display is meaningless, especially with you. What the hell’s so damned wrong with admitting you’re in love?”
“I don’t want to hear ‘I love you’,” Jeff cried out in a strangled voice. “I don’t want to say it!” He lowered his head, refusing to look at Trent, who still pressed Jeff’s palm to his cheek.
“You’ve already said it,” Trent told him, leaning closer.
“Not with that kind of intent,” Jeff replied.
“What was the last thing you said to Adam before he died?” Trent asked, his voice a soft whisper in the silent room.
Jeff jerked his hand free of Trent’s grasp and surged to his feet. “Trent, shut the fuck up!”
“Was it ‘I love you’?”
READ MORE“That’s it!” Jeff spat. “Get out right fucking now!” He pointed to the door, lurching backwards from where Trent sat on the couch. “LEAVE!”
“Fine,” Trent said, getting to his feet. “Just let me grab my bag and I’ll be out of here.”
“And don’t ever come back!”

This book had me in tears from the first page. This a part of the Colin, Josh world. I’m glad to see the previous characters being a part of this story. Trent and Jeff’s relationship is being defined. This story gives a background on Jeff’s relationship with Adam. I really was glad to get that explained. It felt like it put together a big piece that had been questionable. Trent and Jeff getting together is more than a little rocky. Jeff has spent seven years trying to put his life together. Trent has been more than a little patient but is wanting more. Both of these personalities are alpha’s so it makes it hard to slow down and see the other side. Trent, at some point I would have expected him to take his losses and move on. I almost hated to watch all the turmoil he went through. I wanted to step in and find someone to care about him. Jeff is another story. I understand all he has gone through and can see where “moving on” would be next to impossible but I felt he was lucky to have found Trent. I love this author’s stories and again she has put together one of those stories that when I started it, I could not put it down. Now I get to go back to pushing her to write faster!
