The Mating Games gathering has arrived!
Finding ones mate is not always easy. Not everyone's mate is always the same species and the Council knows this, so they designed a way for all types of shifters and other paranormals to come together. Have some fun, meet new people, and if you are one of the lucky ones....find your mate.
Just being a skunk shifter, isn't easy. Try being a skunk as well as a socially inept genius. For Ricky, that was his life. However, he was now at the Mating Games to try and change who he is. He wanted a mate. He wanted someone that would love him for who he is and not think him strange or boring.
Derk had been trying to find his mate for years. With the urging of his best friend, Derk said he would give the Mating Games gathering one last chance. Being the quarterback to the large shifter football team requires lots of practice. However, he didn't expect it to bring him to his adorable mate.
The thing is, not only does Derk want him, but so does the Council, and they will do whatever it takes to have Ricky in their possession.
Can Derk keep his mate safe, or will the council jump in and intercept his mating.

"Dr. Dean! Please can I have a moment?" Councilman Troy yelled once more.
"Doctor?"Derk said as his eyebrow rose.
"I thought my mom told you.I got my doctorate while in Harvard." Ricky said.
Derk laughed lightly as he said, "No, she must have left that part out."
"Sorry. We can talk about it after your game." Ricky said.
Ricky patted his chest as he said, "Go. I'll see what he wants."
Derk lightly kissed him, then said, "We have a great deal of talking we need to do."
Ricky nodded and shooed Derk off to the field to cheers and whistles as the councilman approached him, "Dr. Dean, the council has been trying to locate you."
Ricky's eyebrow went up as he said, "Really? I can't imagine why."
"We were hoping to catch you before now." He said as if annoyed.
READ MORERicky had come across people like Councilman Troy many times, being a scholarship student at Harvard, and not one of the kids there on 'Daddy's dime.’
Turning on his professional voice, Ricky said, "Well I do apologize, sir. However, I didn't know you wanted me and I no sooner arrived when I met my mate. I have been enjoying my mating and plan to continue to do just that. Now if you will excuse me, he is on the field and I don't want to miss the rest of the game."
As Ricky went to go sit down, the councilman grabbed his arm, "I apologize, but we really need to speak with you. I need you to come with me so we can talk."
Ricky removed the councilman's hand as he turned up his hoity tone, "Sir, I have already said, I am going to finish watching my mate play this game. Now if you would like to meet tomorrow, I believe I can make time to do so, however, I will not miss my mate playing for the first time as my mate. He is the quarterback after all."
Councilman Troy huffed as he snarled, "Fine. Tomorrow it is. We will be expecting you at nine in the morning sharp."
Shaking his head, Ricky said, "No sir. I will get with Derk and let you know when I can be there."
The Councilman gave off a low growl and Ricky snarled, "Do not piss me off Councilman Troy. I am honoring the council's request. I have no obligation to do so and if you push me, I will flat out tell you to fuck off. Now have a good evening sir."
Ricky marched up the bleachers and took his seat next to Ian.
Ian leaned into Ricky and asked, "Is he trying to get you to go and work for them still?" Ian asked.
Ricky's entire body was vibrating with anger as he hissed, "That fucker had the audacity to think he could tell me I had to go with him now to talk with the other councilmen."
Ian sighed, "Ricky, you know they've really been pressing us to go work for the council. It shouldn't be a surprise that they would hunt you down and try and strong arm you into going with them."
"He didn't even fucking congratulate me for finding my mate." Ricky hissed.
Ricky watched the team’s line up and Derk was right there, leaning down, ready to take his team to victory.
Ricky was proud of his mate's ability to lead his team and when the ball was thrust into his hands and he backed up looking for that opening, throwing the ball...
"Yes! Run...Run..." Ricky yelled.
Ian laughed as he shook his head.
Ricky turned to his best friend, asking, "What are you laughing at?"
Ian snorted, "What the hell do you know about football Ricky?"
"What? I watch football." Ricky said defensively.
Shaking his head, Ian said, "No, Ricky. You watch football players. There is a big difference."
Ricky huffed, "Well now I only watch one."
Shrugging, Ian said, "Maybe so, but you still don't know shit about the game."
"I do know one very important fact." Ricky said as he patted his hair.
Ian gave Ricky an uncertain look, as he asked, "What?"
Smirking, like the brat he could be, Ricky said, "The quarterback is coming home with me and then I will be quarterback sacked."
Ian laughed and Ricky joined in as the game continued.
Watching Derk and the others get in line, they were eight yards from the goal, so they could tie the game up. Ricky was on the edge of his seat as the ball was placed in his mates hand, Derk drew back, and then this large mammoth of a vamp tore across the line and straight into his mate.
"No!" Ricky screamed as he watched Derk and the vamp fly back a good ten yards.
Neither man was moving and Ricky couldn't breathe. Both teams ran onto the field and rolled the mammoth off of his mate.
"Oh my God!" Ricky panted.
"He'll be fine, Ricky, calm down." Ian said as he patted Ricky's back trying to sooth him.
It wasn't working, he needed to see...
"He's moving Ricky, now breath." Ian said excitedly.
Ricky looked closer until finally he saw Derk's hand was moving and two of his players were helping him up.
Everyone cheered and stomped the bleachers as Derk stood up and shook his head back and forth.
Councilman Troy stood up and turned to Ricky with a smirk and then looked back at the field.
It was that moment that Ricky knew, the mammoth had really tried to hurt his mate and he turned to Ian, "Ian, that was on purpose."
Ian looked at Ricky confused, "What was on purpose."
"Derk being laid out like that." Ricky hissed.
Ian patted Ricky's back, as he said calmly, "Ricky, sacking a quarterback is part of the game."
Shaking his head Ricky watched as the Councilman Troy left the game."No, the council was sending me a message. If I don't do as they ask, they're going to hurt Derk."

I Loved the interplay between the characters and that you had various types in the animal world. Enjoyed this so much that it's going on the reread pile and waiting to see more to come I hope.
Wow just WOW I have laughed so hard with this book. I absolutely loved it. Ricky is a 21 year old genius who's still a virgin. Ricky goes to the mating games not really thinking he will find his mate. When Ricky gets hit right smack in the face with a football fate brings him his mate. Derk is a 35 year old sexy as sin bear shifter looking for his mate when he goes to help the man he hit with the football he gets one whiff off the skunk shifter and knows he's finally found his mate. But there's a problem his mate shifts and makes a run for it. Poor poor Ricky he's not used to talking to people let alone his mate. Will Derk be able to convince Ricky that there meant to be? Will they be able to stay together when outside forces start trying to tear them apart? I absolutely loved this book I couldn't put it down and neither will you except to wipe the tears from your eyes. Cree has out done herself in this book. I chat wait for the next one. Loved loved loved it.
