These two began the phenomenal series and it was only right that they are the first novella reconnecting with each couple.
Rowe may be my ultimate favorite, but there was definitely something special about Lucas and Andrei. What is especially sweet about these novellas is that each chapter gives the readers a little more time with our protagonists without the added drama of someone trying to kill them or burn their buildings down. The chapters were all very hot and sexy, with a ton of humor, as a couple and with family and friends.
Speaking of family, Andrei’s parents were simply brilliant. I loved the way they embarrassed him about their Las Vegas escapades. Poor Andrei will never live that down. But what I really enjoyed was all the feels that came with this short story. Since I’d read the entire series before going back to the novellas, I already knew that the happy ever after was a guarantee, but there was something distinct and specific about checking in on our first couple and remembering what made their relationship so special.
As expected, highly recommended for both this novella and the series.
Overall Impression: I really liked it!
Unbreakable Stories: Lucas picks up directly after the previous book in the series, Shiver. It is not intended to be read as a stand alone, but as a direct companion to Lucas and Andrei’s story. All of the stories in this collection added that additional layer that was missing for me at the conclusion of Shiver. The book is comprised of six short stories that show the guys deepening their relationship and having fun in every room in the house where clothing is most definitely optional. The stories consist of time with family and friends, but mostly they are sweet, sexy, dirty fun with Lucas and Andrei. If you finished Shiver and are looking for more Lucas and Andrei, this is most definitely the book you are looking for.
The Meeting
This first story picks up directly after the end of Shiver. Andrei has gotten his cast off and has been cleared for more…strenuous activities. The first and only activity on his mind is Lucas. But Lucas has been treating Andrei gently after the attack and he is also having a harder time setting his business dealings aside. Andrei knows just how to get Lucas to end his business call. This story reconnects the men and shows the chemistry is still overheated.
Perfect
Trying to find something else to do besides rip each other’s clothes off, the men take to carving Jack-o-Lanterns. But that really doesn’t work out for them as preparing pumpkins is a messy business and when clothes get dirty they have to come off. While I didn’t find pumpkin guts particularly sexy, this story is another sexy romp as the guys get down and dirty.
Tu Iubesc
This story takes on a little more emotion as well as family humor as Andrei finally comes out to his parents. His parents are so much more supportive than Andrei ever imagined. Although, Andrei isn’t quite prepared to hear what his parents have to tell him in response and while Lucas in entertained, Andrei doesn’t find it funny, not at all. The guys bond over the experience and it doesn’t take much to figure out the Romanian words that Andrei whispers to Lucas.
Thanksgiving
This was the longest story in the book and reconnects all of the guys, as well as Andrei’s parents (who I could have done without) as they spend Thanksgiving at Ian’s. Lucas and Andrei are so aroused just sharing the same space together and Ian’s condo is small and the walls are thin. Lucas tries to distract Andrei to help with his nerves, but all they manage to do is ramp up their arousal all the day long. It was fun to once again see the group of friends together in a relaxed atmosphere and definitely made me ready to move onto all of their stories. While Lucas and Andrei are driving each other mad just waiting to get back home again, the authors increase the emotion and tenderness between them as they continue to take steps to solidify their relationship.
Homesick
This is just a short scene where Lucas arrives home early from a two-week long business trip to find Andrei in his bathtub. Neither guy did very well on their own during the separation and they are more than ready to reconnect. It’s a quick bath and then right to bed for the men as Andrei muses that, “Naked was always better with Lucas.” While this is a short erotic moment, the authors still manage to capture the emotion and the heat that sparks between these two men.
I Want More
As the title of this story suggests, someone, maybe both men, are looking for more. While they are both enjoying their monogamous sex life, it’s time for them to acknowledge their relationship. The question is how far and wide will that acknowledgment go? Lucas and Andrei have spent so much time together alone that it hasn’t prepared Andrei to socialize in Lucas’ world. Sunday is their day to spend together at home, but an upscale Sunday brunch has the men taking a look at their public status. While the men mention wanting to peel each other out of their clothes, this is the only story that the men do manage to keep their clothes on. It’s a feel good moment to solidify the men moving forward for all the world to see.
